Okay, so I am buying a 42 inch 1080p TV this weekend. I'm going to want to get a gaming system for it.

I am not partial to the 360 or PS3. Both have things I like and dislike about them. Can you buy different models (USA, JAPAN, etc) in Yongsan?

Which is the best to buy.

Here is what I want:

1) No restrictive region coding (through mod or otherwise).
2) English Menu
3) Modded ability to play cheaper burned games of any region.
4) Ability to play online if I desire to (with mod if necessary)
5) Ability to buy cheaper burned games.

Which of the platforms offers the most or all of these? Which model and country? Can you guess at a price? Smile

Thanks!

PS3 isn't modded yet, doesn't play copied games, no chip available, etc etc etc.

360 is modded, does play copied games, however has region restrictions.

dont think you can play 360 online with a mod... I heard they brick your system.

ps3 is region free, and you can adjust the language on your menu. I got the 20gig Jap version when it first came out, and have all the menus in english. I just pulled my 20gig HDD out and installed a 320gig HDD for 80,000 won.
Now I wont have any issues with memory for a while.

With the 360, you can't get bricked for online with a mod, but you could possible get baned from Xbox Live.

No you cannot brick your xbox 360 but yes it does increase the chances of the horrible XboX Red Ring of Death error.... But, with newer Xbox's that seems to have been resolved.

Modding your 360 is great you can buy games or burn them yourself as long as you have a SUperMulti-DVD burner, a copy of clone CD and the address for the pirate bay website haha.

XBOX 360 will ban you if you play unreleased games too early... so when you get a new game it is best to check the release date to make sure its playable... ALSO, you can scan the disc file with a program named ABGX 360 to ensure that it is safe to play in your XBOX.

Once every year/ Two years... XBOX throws out a ban wave and bans all suspicious users at once. If you make sure all your discs are clean and don't play any game prior to a release date... You will be fine.

Yongsan underground video game market can sell you a new XBOX 360 with a mod... but not every shop does it... every 1 in 10 or so. So be patient, and just ask around.

Tosh

It's a design flaw. Pure and simple. Nothing to do with modding it.

Modding a 360 is nothing more than a firmware change. Unless you are stupid and use a chip.

Either way it does not increase RROD risk.

It's possible to mod an xbox without putting a chip in it?

ahhh yes. That's what the guy said in the post above you. the most common mod is done by flasing the 360's dvd drive firmware with one that defeats copy checks.
