I am a US citizen but was born in a non-English peaking country. I grew up in the States. GEPIK is asking for documentation that I have been in this country since xx year or proof that I speak English fluently. Is a college degree not good enough?
I am not sure where to even start. Is there a gov't form I should fill out? Any advice will really be appreciated? |

How did they find out that you were born in another country?
Do you have a US passport? I think only passport holders of UK, Ireland, US, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia can get E-2 visas. I think this might be changing soon but I have no idea of what beaurocratic hurdles people will have to jump.
I'm sorry but I never heard of any type of document that you could write up yourself. Maybe you could get some kind of documentation to prove you paid US tax from such and such a date. The further back in time the better.
Or maybe get someone in your old school to certify that you attended that school between date x and date Y.
SOrry I really don't know too much about this. |

They probably found out that he was born overseas because his US passport states place of birth as the country where he was born. My US passport indicates my place of birth as Germany, which is where I was born.
Who at GEPIK is asking for this crud? Nobody has ever asked me for that and I'm on the EPIK program.
If you absolutely need something to prove you are native-born citizen, you can show them your Certificate of Citizenship which was issued to you when your parents reported your birth abroad to the US Embassy. Here are two links for that:

ummmmm US passports are proof of citizenship. I mean if they get you into the US Embassy through the special gate, they work. Right? |

Actually, no.
Conditions for eligibility are quite clear on their website. You must:
Have lived in one of the 6 designated English speaking countries for at least 10 years
Have studied in one of the six designated English speaking countries from the junior high school level (7th grade)
Rather than just taking you at your word, sounds like they'd like to see something on paper. Maybe an official letter from your elementary or middle school? |

Just say screw it and find a different job. Sounds like the hoops they're going to make you jump through are going to be too difficult.
If somehow you manage to get a letter from your elementary school (!!!), they'll likely decline it since it won't have an official stamp on it.
Still, you could try just making something in Word. Maybe they'll buy it. |

How old were you when you moved to the US? I was not born in the US but I have a US passport. I Grew up in the states from age 7. They are hassling you if you have done all your schooling in the US including college. Find another recruiter. Koreans are not that bright. Now you have one reason why NOT to come to korea. Bend over and welcome to Korea land. |

My entire schooling was in the States. I am Asian. Do you guys think that could be the issue also? Yes, it was a recruiter who asked for it.
I found this on a gov't site: Form N-565 Special Certificate of Naturalization to obtain recognition of my U.S. citizenship by a foreign country. This costs $380. There has got to be a cheaper way. |

Tell them if they need it, they can pay for it. After all, they hired you already, right?
And start looking for a new job. GEPIK doesn't give a rat's ass about you--make no mistake. |

I have seen both EPIK and GEPIK documents. As best I can guess, they want to make sure that you've been in an English-speaking country since junior high or middle school. You will at least need a high school diploma in addition to your one from university. They may even ask for some sort of proof that you've attended junior high.
Good luck and I hope the hassles are to a minimum. |

You have: US Passport + Degree from one of the 6 countries universities.
Thats all you need to qualify for the E-2 visa, so any other restrictions are school specific - say screw them and find another! |
