We'll be living in korea for a few years after we are married and then go to canada. A friend and i have started talking about building up some capital and going into business for ourselves. IF we do do this and we are successful then we'll be staying in korea for quite awhile. |
Another FYI.
It doesnt matter where the REAL wedding is. If you are a christian, the real wedding is when you commit each other before God. Won't you be doing it twice either way? So what does it matter?
The thing about a full wedding in Canada is PRICE. It is WAY WAY WAY more expensive if you are going to go all out like most Canadian weddings are.
I didn't do the wedding thing in Canada as I didn't want to waste another wad of cash having a reception there. To do the wedding would have been no problem for me as my dad is a pastor and has a church...but reception is $$$.
Also renting a wedding dress in Korea and bringing it over is hard. Renting one in Canada is hard too, as most people buy.
Check out your budget and go with what works. If you want to PM me, feel free. I've been there, done that.
Last FYI - Koreans don't need all the stupid visas people here keep saying because they are going to CANADA not usa. My wife came into Canada on a tourist visa. It was no problem. When we go into Canada I bring her with me in the line for Canadian Citizens and tell the guy she's my wife. Never had a problem.
If you want to know about getting your wife perm residence status just ask and I can give some details. IF you are going to be in Korea for awhile, don't apply for it until you think you guys will be in Canada for more than a year without leaving.
Congrats on the wedding. |

Probably not too simple. Like another poster said, it's much easier to go to Canada and get a tourist visa upon entrance (for Asians) than it is in the U.S.
You don't know how many times I wished that I was Canadian over the past few months! (because it meant that I would see my fianc sooner and I could eat at Tim Hortons any time).
Luckily he is here now and I moved to the Detroit area where Tim Hortons are everywhere. Life is great. |
