I posted this earlier, but here is an update.

I'm using woori bank's internet banking. I was running ie7 but it would crash every time I would log in. So then I tried upgrading to ie8. Same result, except this time the browser wouldn't crash, but the website would reload. Of course it won't do anything in firefox.

So after a lot of reading and trial and error, I got it to work, but I have to use ie6! And even then, the browser slows to a crawl and takes a long time to get logged in, but in the end it works.

What is going on here? I've tried adjusting the security settings, firewall, and turned off the antivirus (avast) yet ie7 and ie8 always crashed.

Aren't there rumors that Worrie bank may collapse? If I were you I'd move my cash to KEB...I've never had any problem using internet banking w/ them from anywhere.

That's funny. I just switched back to IE6 after an almost identical experience as yours Easter. It was because of online shopping and CC software, though. Korean websites don't seem to like updating their code for new software. Confused

call me old fashioned, but anyone using internet banking is just asking for trouble. plus it takes longer to boot up windows than it does to walk the 50 meters separating one woori or kb bank from the next.

I don't think Koreans are the best programmers. All of my Korean cell phones are programmed very poorly, and have bad battery management. And the R&D departments are small compared to USA and Japan. Mostly they just make clones from other companies, which result in a poorer end result. American and Japanese products and technology infrastructure are far superior, it does not matter how fast their internet is, that won't make a better website. But, none the less, their technology development is still very impressive for the relative size of the country.

I don't know about Korean banks. But major banks in America guarantee and protect against internet fraud, so one is insured from any internet fraud.

I read somewhere that World of Warcraft servers have better security than most banks.

banks are insured against THEIR system being compromised. not yours. or your ISP's. is 'internet fraud' a technical term? i sure hope that covers nonsense from people on internet message boards.

You are old fashioned. My bank covers fraud from my computer as well, as long as I keep 'online common sense', such as NOT giving kings and princes in Africa my account information and using an anti-virus and firewall. usaa.com

well for me 'online common sense' means NEVER posting or storing my account or credit card or PIN number on any computer connected to the internet. i highly doubt that your bank (or anyone) would (or can, for that matter) take out insurance to cover vulnerabilities that are beyond their control, i.e. your computer or your ISP. any repayment from the bank would be given on a voluntary basis unless you could prove that the intrusion happened to THEIR system and not yours.

p.s. i'm pretty sure banks' insurance policies cover NONE of the 'internet fraud' schemes listed on that wikipedia page.

i agree. and nothing is wrong with taking a risk, as long as you are aware of what you're doing. so many people have NO idea how easy it is these days to steal information about someone, and think that they're going to be covered if they get cleaned out.

I have probs accessing Woori as well. What I usually do is uninstall the Xescure program from Control panels add remove and have it reinstall the activex plugin.

This seems to reset it or something and gets it going again.
