It's unlikely that anyone here would think you said anything that crazy, Yata.
It was reasonable, given all the rumors, to ask about citizenship, and to be fair, the same questions were circulating about McCain. The issue of McCain's citizenship became moot because he lost. Obama HAS posted his birth certificate on line for everyone to see, so the issue is over.
Supporters of Keyes and his wacky ideas should just shut up.
I can also add an "n" to that last sentence and write it again ...

Just clarifying since a couple of the early responses have 'Ya-ta Boy wrote'
The citizenship thing was settled 6 months or more ago. Keyes was talking last week. He's willfully ignoring the evidence to undermine the legitimacy of the duly elected president. He uses inflammatory, provocative language. Worst, he says Obama must be stopped or there will be civil war. The guy is getting close to inciting violence. He is becoming dangerous.
The problem with the New York Post cartoon was not the implied racism, intended or not, but the casual injection of violence into politics, intended or not. |

Huffington Post has a short blurb saying that Keyes isn't the only one who isn't giving up on the not-a-citizen smear:
Richard Shelby, Alabama Senator, Questions Obama's Citizenship
The Cullman Times reports that Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby, in a meeting with constituents, appeared to give some thought to rumors questioning President Obama's citizenship.
Another local resident asked Shelby if there was any truth to a rumor that appeared during the presidential campaign concerning Obama's U.S. citizenship, or lack thereof.
"Well his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven't seen any birth certificate," Shelby said. "You have to be born in America to be president."
According to the Associated Press, state officials in Hawaii checked health department records during the campaign and determined there was no doubt Obama was born in Hawaii.
Politico's Ben Smith says he has emailed Shelby's spokesman to ask if the Senator actually believes there's truth in the repeatedly debunked rumor.

Shelby is being irresponsible. How many minutes would it take a staffer to look up the birth certificate on the internet? He's being deliberately obtuse.
The bigger issue is that some of the leaders on the Right are willing to delegitimize Obama's right to be president for political reasons. |

Because modern political campaigns are non-stop - and most politicians are in it for their own gain - it's not reasonable to expect much cooperation among them.
Instead of coming together to deal with crises, many members of each party will try to utilize each issue and crisis for their own advantage.
I don't think enough Hare Krishna books have been distributed in recent years ot save the U.S. from disaster - hopefully, I'm wrong. |

There's really no point in worrying about Keyes. He has no more impact than a nasty bulldog barking in a backyard on Main St. in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He might get his picture in the paper and a spot in a blog for his loud mouth, but he's just a self promoter in the end.
To a flea living on the back of the bulldog, this bark sounds dangerous. The rest of the world has never heard of him. |
