So I got a bad chest cold with green flem and all! Yay for me, thank's Seoul dust storm!
The yak gave me 2 drugs and told me to take 2 of each 3 x per day.
Now my Korean is elementary but Im pretty sure thats way above what the package says to take.
THe one says to take 1 tablet twice a day and the other says to take 1 tablet 3 x per day.
The pills are Dispain (Naproxen Sodium) and 인후통 염증에 (Botalexin Tablets).
What's the deal with this? Is it ok to take what the pharmacist said or should I stick with the packaging? |

I read the naproxen as "275-550mg every 12 hours"
and the Botalexin as "2 tablets 3 times per day for people over age 15"
Having said that, don't trust my Korean. I don't trust my Korean for meds. I certainly don't trust people on the internet. I ask a Korean to translate them. Best course of action is to go back to the pharmacist with your broken Korean and point out the discrepency or better yet, bring a translator.
A quick search for internet info lists a normal dose for naproxen as 500 mg every 12 hours.
It seems to say Botalexin is some combo drug with chinese medicines. Naproxen is a fancy aspirin (NSAID).

For a gloss.....
(naproxen)
1회------ 275-550mg 1일----2회 (12시간마다)
1 time---275-550mg 1day--2 times (12 hours every)
"each time 275-550mg, in one day-2 times (every 12 hours)"
(Botalexin)
15 세이상 :------ 1회------2정----- 14 - 17 세 --- 1회 1정------ 1일-----3회
15 years over--- 1 time--2 pills---14-17 years--1 time 1 pill---1 day--3 times
"For over 15 years of age, each time 2 pills. For 14-17 years of age, each time 1 pill. Each day-3 times."
I think you messed up and wrote "17" instead of "7".
Even so.. don't trust me. Go ask a Korean. Don't trust the internet. |

God, you're a doofus. He gave you Anaprox and some voodoo Korean medicine that allegedly does muchly the same thing.. Find another doctor.
edit: If your sputum is green, you have an infection and you need an antibiotic. Start on 400mg guaifenisen tid and something for chest colds like erythro or keflex. Go to a real doctor or you'll end up with walking pneumonia. |

You can't get straight guaifenisen (Robitussin) without a prescription in Korea. I tried. It only comes in combo drugs and in very small amounts compared to Robitussin dosing.
I could say a lot about what the Op could/should do, but over the internet, with nothing more than "I have green sputum!" my opinion will be completely invalid.
I will say that you should go to the doctor's office sooner than you think you should. We work hard and easily get sick. Doctors visits and prescription medicines are dirt cheap, as long as your employer is paying your health insurance. It's a lot better to do it now than to call your boss at 6am one morning and tell them you're not going to work that day, and then have to figure out how to set up an appointment without speaking Korean. Koreans call doctor's offices "hospitals" so if someone tells you "You need to go to the hospital." they probably mean "You need to go to the doctor." Unless you're bleeding all over the floor. Or convulsing. Then they mean a hospital with beds.
I was curious about not being able to get Robitussin since in America, we give it to children without prescription. I looked it up on the internet and apparently at high doses, it's a hallucinigin (sp?). Someone must have done that and hurt themselves. |

Oh I have a chest cold with a soar throat. It's breaking up today. I'm on the last days of winter vacation and stayed in yesterday. The green flem is coming up today which is good because yesterday it was all staying down.
No cough or chills. Just a soar throat with green flem and a dry face.
Think I'm over the hill here.

Protect your throat! After all, how can you teach English pronunciation without the ability to speak? This means (especially in the final days), no booze and lots of hot drinks. |
