700Kb/s here whenever I download any file with my download manager or Firefox. I can't get the upgrade to Megapass which would heighten my download speed, I've been told. My other cap is 66Kb/s upload.
I may check out LG Telecom or another carrier. I'm a bit disappointed.
At work I can download at a sustained speed of 2.6Mb/s to 3.5Mb/s. |

Isn't your download speed dependent on where you are downloading from?
Here is one of many online speed tests. http://www.speedtest.net/
That website tells me my download speed is above 70mbs, but a rarely get a actual download above 2mbs. |

Your service provide can manage/set your download speed. This is why they have basic and premium services for different prices. |

What service do you guys have? I have KT megapass 100M but it's delivered over copper VDSL so the guy said although it's 100M, expect about 20-30M in overhead and losses. |

heavily. If you check speedtest, you'll notice crazy speeds to the seoul server then a massive drop off even going to japan.
if I'm downloading a big Korean game (1-2 GB) I've sustained 5MBps (40Mbps) for the length of the download and I've actually even had some torrents hit 3MBps. If you want fast speeds you can find some Korean torrent sites and download the movie from there without subs and then just grab the subs from another site. |

What speedtest is telling is that your download speed is 70MegaBITS per second. Your download speed is 2MegaBYTES per second. The 70 MegaBIT speed shown on speedtest would translate to about 9MegaBYTES/second (divide by 8 to get the correct speed).
However, this download speed is dependant on where you download from. My speedtest shows a download speed of about 92Megabits (so 11.5Megabytes), if I download torrents and the seeders are in the US/Europe, I'll be lucky to break 2 megabytes a second, IF the seeders are in Korea/Japan, I'll usually be over 8 megabytes a second. |
