That is where hagwan ga is. A street of all hagwans. My first job in Korea was there, so I'm biased. I love Anyang. Good place, tons of privates to be had, and it is close to Seoul.

from looking at my map i think dongan gu includes the "pyeongchon" area of anyang, and includes "beomgye". these are kind of cities within the city of anyang, and both areas are very nice, much nicer than anyang proper.

pyeongchon and beomgye are cleaner and newer, whereas anyang is kind of dirty and ghetto. there are more foreigners, places to eat, and young people there also.

it's also probably 45 minutes to 1 hr to most places in seoul including Gangnam, itaewon, and hongdae.

You're going to be stuck somewhere in Korea for a year. It is one of the better places for that.
