I was offered a job in an elementary school in Koyan Ilsan. I would like to know more about the city. Does anyone currently or have resided in the city before? Lend me your 2 cents here. They want me to come to Korea before the end of the week. My God...

you're about a 40 minute to 1 hour bus ride away from Seoul (depending on where you're going and the traffic conditions)

Ilsan is very clean and pleasant (compared to most places in Seoul proper). You will have most of everything Seoul has to offer within footsteps (department stores, large supermarkets, western eateries, etc.) plus more. Afternoon strolls/jogs in the Lake Park is a cheap way to exercise without paying hefty bills at fitness clubs.

overall, I'd much rather live in Ilsan than in Seoul.
feel free to ask more specific questions and I'll be happy to help out as much as I can.

PS: Ilsan (near Baekseok station) has a Costco which is a big plus!

Yeah Ilsan is one of my favorite cities in Korea, one of my friends will be moving there in April.

Making me wonder if I should've looked for a job there instead of going with smoe...oh well maybe I will get lucky and be close by!

Enjoy!

P.s
Ilsan also has a great park, called lake park, with you guessed it a lovely lake, bike trails ect ect.

Kind of off topic I know, but does anyone know if you can use your Costco card internationally? We've got one down the road and we've been trying to decide whether to go with Sam's or Costco. If they are it makes more sense to get to Costco card for when I leave.

yes you can. and it kinda makes sense to get one in Korea because the membership is 35k won, whereas in Canada (last time I checked) it was $55.
I don't know about other countries, but it probably won't get cheaper than 35k won.
