What is your favourite Korean movie?
I get a kick out of them, just because they are so very different.
Of course I need English subtitles, because I don't know a word of Korean.
My Top 3:
Marathon
Au Revoir, U.F.O.
3-Iron |

Old Boy was good.
I just got the Good, The Bad, and The Weird. I haven't watched it yet but I've heard good things about it. |

I liked Old Boy. Shilmido was good too, as was Taeguki. |

Oldboy, Taeguki and Memories of Murder are as good as any movie I've seen. 100 times better than the pap Hollywood is churning out these days. |

I liked Hae-baragi (Sunflower). The end was disappointing, but it's a great movie.
There's another one I bought on VCD. I forgot the name. It was about 2 friends that decide to date just for fun, to see how it goes. It was sorta sweet.
Their comedies are God-awful, and many of the love stories are all the same. But if you sift through the crap, there are a few decent ones. |

Pretty much anything Kim Ki Duk, and "Save the Green Planet". The latter is awesome and needs to be seen by more people. |

Havent watched any Korean movies recently... but I have some old ones to recommend.
<My sassy girlfriend> is pretty good for foreigners to understand Korean dating culture.
<Secret sunshine> got both extremes of comments from my foreigner friends. Before watching it, make sure you are in a good mood that day.
<A good lawyer's wife> it is a >19 movie, with lots of nudity and sex scenarios, but also a well made realistic movie. outstanding acting~! |

Definitely.
It's the best korean movie in my book. An unfornate masterpiece that was suppose to be a blockbuster but ended up as a cult movie.
If you haven't seen it, you're missing out. |

The President's Last Bang is political satire on a Strangelovian scale. Absolutely worthwhile, as is The Host and Save the Green Planet. |

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance gets my vote. It's a very dark violent satire by the same director as Old Boy.
A Bittersweet Life was previously recommended by people on this board, but I haven't seen it yet. Any opinions on it? |

This is the most retarded line of reasoning I've heard in a long time. About anything. |

Bittersweet Life was a good little gangster love story, I thought.
President's Last Bang was terrific as well...I love the scenes of the KCIA guy driving around and around downtown Seoul at night, after curfew, with no other cars on the road at all. Not a common sight these days!
Bad Guy was horrific, but undeniably an excellent flick. Still the only time I've ever seen a character stabbed to death with a piece of paper. Good trick! |
