|
|
| Or, is it ok to have grey hair? I am middle-aged and balding pretty fast, not much to do about that(not that interested in temporarily halting it with meds), but I'm considering whether to dye the hair if I want to work in Korea(for the first time). But I also have some aversion to doing so. How much does it matter? For example would the job offers be much less? Would it be more difficult being liked and respected at school? |

Age is the only thing respected in Korea, besides ability to drink a lot.
I imagine your grey is a plus.
Dyed grey hair will make you look like an old tard. Unless you have a distinct centimeter or two of grey roots. |

| Meh, I got premature balding from my father's side and premature greying from my mother's side. Never mind the former never greyed and the latter never went bald. Stupid genes. |

| That sounds good, so I can probably just come as I am. How about the socializing, will the woman under fifty look at me as though I'm grandpa? |

My silver wings are coming in sweet! Soon I'll look like Reed Richards or Paulie from the Sopranos, but taller and less Italian looking.
I'm not gonna dye 'em. That's the hirsute equivalent of a comb-over for baldies, IMO.
Koreans tend to go mad for the dyejobs, but it's not expected of us, in my experience. Kind of the same with the businessman lipgloss and moistener jizz they lather on to try and pass themselves off as 30-something...it's their thing, and they don't expect us to follow. |

| I had grey before I came here. The kids are quick to point it out when I let my hair grow a bit. As for grey helping my status, I'd think not. Schools often prefer younger teachers. The older you get, the less options you have. Youth and beauty are admired qualities here. My 2 cents anyhow... |

Not really a problem. But if the students are teasng you about it, maybe you might need to work on your lesson plans a bit more. |

This should say " stupid about genes" you can blame your mother for the balding not your father. |
