Don't live there, I live about an hour or so out. I go there to escape the boredom of the little town I live in on occasion. It's an OK city as far as I'm concerned. I prefer it to Seoul, but I'm from a small corn town, mid-West town.
there is a shopping/bar area concentration in one part of the city, not sure where exactly, but close to one of the E-Marts. There are a few lounge bars, western type bars, and korean restaurants and bars, and even a club or two all in the area, as well as a huge, "high class" department store. apart from that, it's not as busy as Seoul and seemed a bit boring in comparison to Seoul, but every place i've been to except NYC seems boring in comparison to Seoul.
It's pretty good, and if you're living in Dunsandong then you'll be fairly close to a lot of the main recreational stuff. And Eunhengdong is only about a 5000-6000 taxi ride away for two of the popular foreigner bars(J Rock/Brickhouse).
I stayed there for about a month, seems okay. Pretty much the same as Seoul - crowded, has a subway, has all the main shops 'n' stuff, and best of all: most bus stops have signs telling you how long you have to wait!
