|
|
I played guitar for about 15 years before I came here about a year and a half ago. I havent touched a guitar in that time but I wouldnt mind getting a cover band together.
Anyone else tried this? Any bands like this around Seoul? |

If u want to make a GG Allin cover band then I can swing it. If thats not your style maybe we could be a RUX coverband. That'd be kinda funny. |

9-11 wasnt an inside job and i had a very different playlist in mind. Im a 90s rock kid and i was into nirvana, smashing pumpkins, radiohead, tool, etc. The playlist could definitely vary but thats a starting point. |

I will give you a tip. Go post on Craigslist if you want to find/ start a band. Second, What Korea needs is another cover band. Write your own stuff. Third, go see some real bands play and meet people at the clubs that like your taste in music. There is always someone wanting to get something going. Go to Club Spot or Drug (well its DGBG now or whatever) see some good non-cover bands and go from there. Or you can send that ernie guy your DNA sample. |

zero for me to respond to. if anyone wants to be in a cover band that uses thick distortion, im willing to listen and didnt listen to *beep* when they were a teenager, im willing to listen.
anyway the question was actually about guys that are actually trying to do this. any experiences? |

Guy asks a simple question about making music and is attacked by pretencious assholes. Pretty normal.
Oh your so so cool Racetraitor...you're so punk you tryhard.
Korean punks are as bad as Korean Gangsta rappers.

i played in a band when i was in seoul, and yeah we had our own songs and filled out the set with some covers too. we weren't particularly good and i didn't take myself seriously in the way that some of these guys do, so i'm happy to include myself as an object of criticism. a whole set of covers though, thats a bit too much, i think.
anyway to the OP: you'll be fine. craigslist, koreaherald, koreatimes bulletin boards, and also go to the music clubs in hongdae and stick up ads looking for band members. and as with everywhere, getting a good drummer is the hardest thing, so find that guy first and the rest will follow. also try and get some korean members, as it is much cooler and opens more doors for you. |
