walking near Sincheon yesterday I saw a 20-something guy wearing black slacks that were maybe 2-3 inches from his ankles - and wow - the shiniest silver-colored loafers/slippers (don't really know what to call them) I've ever seen.

that says it all about fashion here - I'm sure he thought he looked very cool.

I was glad I had my shades on Laughing Laughing

Thom Browne's high-water trousers are designed for men, you can believe it. I think it looks awful.

On the other hand, most Americans and most Koreans wear trousers so ill-fitted and overly long that it looks like a puddle of cloth around their ankles. What not deride that also? It's the opposite side of the same coin of tastelessness. One is just seen less often.

It's pretty well accepted that the only particularly well-dressed men are in Europe, Japan and New York. Men's sartorial aptitude around the world is worse than it's ever been in history, thanks mostly to sportswear and American street fashion influences. What trendy Koreans are doing is mostly a slavish imitation of youth trends from Japan. Except for all the shiny silver suits, in which they probably lead the world .... Shocked
