Quote:
The tenderness of the delicate American buttock is causing more environmental devastation than the country's love of gas-guzzling cars, fast food or McMansions, according to green campaigners. At fault, they say, is the US public's insistence on extra-soft, quilted and multi-ply products when they use the bathroom.

"This is a product that we use for less than three seconds and the ecological consequences of manufacturing it from trees is enormous," said Allen Hershkowitz, a senior scientist at the Natural Resources Defence Council.

"Future generations are going to look at the way we make toilet paper as one of the greatest excesses of our age. Making toilet paper from virgin wood is a lot worse than driving Hummers in terms of global warming pollution." Making toilet paper has a significant impact because of chemicals used in pulp manufacture and cutting down forests.

A campaign by Greenpeace seeks to raise consciousness among Americans about the environmental costs of their toilet habits and counter an aggressive new push by the paper industry giants to market so-called luxury brands.

Me, I need the mutiply. Seriously, there is nothing worse than wiping your butt, only to have your finger poke through the weak toilet paper.

Environmentalists are fucking idiots. Toilet paper is made from trees that were grown for the expressed purpose of making toilet paper(and other such products). Therefore if you want more trees, use more toilet paper.

Fucking hippy douche bags.

You're far from the worst offender on this board, but this word desperately needs a hiatus.

When you start an article like that I just stop reading. And the whole "worse than xxx-bad thing-xxx" is also annoying. Further, "green campaigners".. Greenpeace? Really? So, a radical organization uses hyperbole and the Guardian (though I think the NYT ran this first) uses crude swipes at America and somehow this is supposed to convince Joe American to scrape up his ass for the sake of the Panda? I'm actually glad that these people are damn incompetent in getting their message out, but this one is stunning.

This whole thing is ridiculous. What is an ideal, for leftards: a filthy, stinky, unkempt stupid savage? Looks like it. And I am really proud to say that as much as l love humans of the female variety, I have never dated a leftard. Now I know why. First, obviously, they are dumb and annoying. Second, they are un-hygienic nasty pigs. How can anyone shag a babe who barely or never wipes her bum and does not take showers every day? Ugh! These motherfuckers probably drink piss, too.

What is your point. Cambodia has been logged because they are dirt poor and wanted cash to finance a war. As for Haiti they are dirt poor and what are you meant to burn for fuel when you have no money?

I think the point is that consumption of trees in the US causes production of trees, where in the third world consumption of trees causes deforestation.

Nothing worse than being poor, jobless, and have your finger poke through the toilet paper when you wipe.

I think when that happens, you've hit rock bottom.

Some simple solutions: get a bidet, or at least a spray-type bum washer.
Sh*t before you shower.
Use baby ass-wipes. One of those can replace a whole bunch of TP.

Well, I've got to wipe. What else would I wipe with? Please don't say hand.

Oh, a bidget is the most environmentally (and economically!) sound way get clean during your millions of great king of the empire moments on the throne.
