Unfortunately mental retardation cannot be healed. My condolences to your parents.

(Sorry! I just had to do it after reading the title. Hope your foot heals fast!)

Exercise is good, you don't want your muscles to atropy. Prolly your foot is stiffer in the morn, more flexible as the day progresses. Don't push it.

Foot has been healing phenomenally, I'm tempted to bear weight but will hold off for another 2 weeks. While the swelling is down, my foot turned purple and blue the other day (literally), apparently it's from all the 'dead' blood that's finally recirculating...

Man, it's amazing how the human body can heal itself...

Quick update... aggressive icing, compression wrapping, elevation, and 'han-yak' (deer antler herb juice) perhaps is the magic formula? Swelling is down, discoloration is near gone, and I'm getting back some range of motion.

Still can't bear weight but feeling optimistic about the healing time...

The body sets the perfect temperature for healing and the swelling is the healing process in action.

The human judges the process adds ice to create the wrong temperature and then celebrates that the healing process( swelling) is less now.

The reduction in range of motion was also a good thing until healing has finished. Like parents who push their kid to walk too fast the patient judges the symptoms and tries to make them go away as fast as possible.

If you do nothing the body will do what it needs to do. Quit screwing with it otherwise your short term apparent victories will lead to long term problems with your foot.

So help me understand why 6 weeks is the magic number for complete recovery time? Is this an arbitrary number? One would assume supplemental therapy like icing, elevation, etc. (done correctly) and most important proper nutrition would encourage faster healing? No?

Have you had a similar injury? What exactly does 'long term' problem mean?

In any case, I completely agree with you that the human body is a indeed a super intelligent entity.

Swelling contains the elements of healing and heat helps the process along. By icing and elevating you are reducing the healing capablities of your body. You are judging swelling to be a bad thing. If the swelling goes down because you ice and elevate it is not a good thing.

A Christian Scientist? hahahahha wtf?

Just common sense that your body produces symptoms like vomiting and swelling for a reason.

Think about what swelling is and why your body does it. Then ask yourself why your treatment regime would be aimed at reducing it?

You just seamed so happy that you had reduced the swelling and increased range of motion so I was warning you that those factors were needed for healing to take place.

ie . dont judge systems that are more complicated than we understand.

Had an acupuncture session with a Korean 'shaman' yesterday. Those damn needles were pencil thick and stung! Placebo or not, the foot is feeling amazingly better, still can't bear weight but slowly coming around to this acupuncture stuff.

There's gotta be someone on this thread that's endured the same injury as me, would love to compare notes.

I like acupucture but never heard of pencil thick needles....ouch. The acupuncture gates are so small big needles would defeat the purpose.

I'm a bit offended about the insensitive use of the "broke foot" implication to describe retards. Not all broken foot people are retards!
