So I just had one of my KET's come into my office and ask where I was last period. I politely told her that I've been sitting on my ass here since 8:30 (we get along very well, so she thought the entire situation was humourous afterwards). Told her I dont know what my scheduel is or who my handler is for that matter. To which she replied that the person whos desk is beside mine (desk was empty at the time) is my new handler.

Yea so me and this handler are off to a great start, she sat beside me all morning, full well knowing that she's my handler and she hasn't said a single word to me yet.

So I have no scheduel, a handler who doesn't even say hello in the morning and apparently I'm supposed to be teaching classes that I dont even know about. Off to a terrific start here!!

Yea I expected the first day to be a fair amount of chaos, but this is just retarded. I mean she sat beside me all morning, didnt speak a word of english, so i figured she was just another new teacher. But no, she's my handler and she did even bother giving me my scheduel, let alone say good morning. And its not like she even had to create it because I just finished talking with my favourite co-teacher and my last handler had already made my scheduel, but no bothered to think about giving it to me lol! Shocked Shocked

It amazes me that you can't spell "schedule".

Welcome to Korea.

1> Roll with the punches of Korean disorganization. Make belive it's fun! *

* It is for me!

2> Would it kill you to say hello to her first? Imagine her perspective: she's stuck with a fat, boring, white democrat who won't introduce herself. Make believe that you;re a friendly, welcoming person.

Priceless! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

My new 'handler' is a rookie (first job) and quite cute. She just moved back to town to live with Mommy & Daddy after graduating university. She didn't have to do anything during the very first class of her career because it was with me... and I took the opportunity to explain how things 'work'... LOL.

I still don't have a schedule either; all I know is that on Mondays I teach during 3rd, 4th & 6th blocks.

at first this used to annoy the be-Jesus out of me, when I first came here 8 months ago.

Now I fully expected and expact chaos and complete lack of organization, planning and forewarning.

but I won't have any classes today anyways, since it's basically "orientation" and most of my scheduled classes were with the freshmen anyways.

so it's all good.

I will have a new male co-teacher who's 51 (have to give the guy credit though, he looks 10 years younger.. some of these Korean males age extremely extremely well!!!!!).. that should be an interesting dynamic. Last year I had all females, all of whom were younger than me and basically got to do what I want, we shall see what this guy wants/expects - but ultimately I don't care - I'll be happy to make him happy so long as he's not being ridiculous.

btw.. the handlers/coordinators - they are USUALLY the junior/youngest teachers in the English Dept - for 2 reasons - it's one of those "jobs" no one wants (though not as bad as being homeroom teacher) so the junior members gets the shaft.. PLUS, they figure it's better for FT and handler to be closer in age given that most FT's are young.

my new handler is one of the teachers I worked with last year - she and I will get along just fine, I'll just have "phuck" with her a little differently than the last one, who was such an earnest goody two shoes - this one is actually sarcastic! hahahahaa.

btw.. I took a piece of toilet paper today and a pair of scissors and cut out a paper toilet size rectangle of the 1000 won note. Then I made the markings, whereever I could - brought it over to my VP and told him I can't duplicate the drawings/images. At first he was confused, but when he caught on, he started laughing his ass off.

sheet;. they're even making a special lunch dish for me..
Very Happy
life is good

Now I'll have to readjust to awakening at 7 am instead of going to sleep at 7 am like I've been basically doing since Christmas Twisted Evil
