Puck moving defensemen are key to the rules of the new NHL.

San Jose and Detroit have it down pat... expect one of them to win the conference (Wings need goaltending though otherwise vulnerable).

I cannot for the life of me imagine a scenario where the Sharks of 08/09 lose a seven game series to the Canucks of 08/09... I have watched a lot of games for each team and just can't see it.

But if a Calgary or Detroit knocks off San Jose, then, just maybe then... with Luongo at his very best and Sundin at his most clutch and the twins on all cylinders and the defense playing above themselves... then maybe it is possible

...

nah... not this year

Defensmen always need to move the puck. Everyone does.

The have this weird feeling the Chicago Hawks take the cup.

Canucks need two new forwards as their defense is fine.

Hard to say.

Rolling Eyes

you have never heard someone in the NHL comment about how important mobility and puckhandling is for defensemen in the new NHL? that the style of the game has changed such that teams require it more than ever?

Canucks play bad today and still win. Make up for that crappy game in Montreal .

If they beat CBJ they will be up 4 points on them and have an extra game to play as well. If they lose they will be tied but still have a game to play.

I say pressures more on CBJ.

Canucks will move a defenceman this week in a trade. My gut says Ohlund will wave the NTC but it could be SOb going thats why they got Nathan MCiver and this Vaan guy.

Gillis has stated many times that he will never ask a player to waive his NTC., which is fine and dandy on paper, but ludicrous in reality. Ohlund is gone in the off season, without a doubt, so get something for him now. IMO, his play has tailed off over the last few seasons, so I am not sad to see him go. Some might say that having the cap space is something, but I dont see it that way. i would rather fill a void or have a prosect, than just more money.

what about the sedins - do the canucks sign them for 12-13 million a year, of course for both, or trade them.

Being six points up on ninth with games in hand, and with only two of the remaining eighteen games being played against teams ahead of them in the standings, it seems that barring a series of catastrophic injuries, this year's edition will make the playoffs. Though I can't see them keeping up this pace until the end of the year, these guys aren't going to collapse down the stretch like last year's team.

Orca eats shark in the ocean and now on the ice.

Does anyone know why Satan was not picked up on waivers. Is he snorting coke or something?

this one also confused me. my guess is the canucks were thinking of who they would have to waive if they signed Satan. IMO, I'd rather have Satan over Wellwood.

As for the comment about the Canucks having an easy ride home, let's not forget this is the Canucks were're talking about, and teams below them have always been a problem. If they wax these teams, then we know this team is for real.

Can you imagine if the Devils had signed him? Their jersey sales would have been through the roof?
