Fine. Don't like our foreign aid programs, like Iraqi Freedom?
We just want to help everyone else be like us, because they want to be.
You don't have to be bitter. Just listen and do exactly as we say.

Jeez. Give an EFL teacher a rope, and he thinks he's a damn cowboy.

Pisses off which people? Liberal arts flunkies from Canada? Those people?

I don't know, ask one of them.

The attitude is the one you have. "I don't see any other country doing......."

Well I do Tex.

America, where actors, are elected president, everyone can have a gun, drive a car that gets 4 miles to the gallon, and still claim to be morally superior.

Yee hah! God is on your side!

I can understand some of the criticism. Unfortunately, it comes all too often by citizens of countries also taking part in the Afghanistan Circle Jerk. Rolling Eyes

Pointing out other injustices doesn't negate your own. It's been that way since kindergarten, at least where I'm from.

I have no problem with Americans the people but America the country has done some pretty despicable things and I'm not going to bite my tongue if it's bought up in the company of Americans to spare their precious patriotic feelings.

Why need it be bought up at all? NOTHING you do or say will change it so why bother?

Why, that's a very good question and if you manage to read my post properly, you will note that I never claimed to bring up the topic of America or Americans. It's usually American who introduce themselves or their country as the topic of conversation and once said topic has been introduced, why shouldn't I share my viewpoint?

After all, you puffed-up patriots don't hesitate to share yours.

I'm Canadian, not American. It's just that deliberately attempting to start a fight is lame. You wouldn't say that crap to a bunch of young drunk GI's looking for trouble now, would you?

The election of Obama must be the worst thing that ever happened to the hard left. Over the next few years, they are going to shriek louder and louder in their desperation to be taken seriously.

To radicals, a moderate alternative is more threatening than an obvious opponent.

Fixed it for you.

Anti-Americans are the most puerile and predictable of all the Commonwealthers. You're like the sub-par swill regurgitated from Canadian and British universities. I've met successful Commonwealthers. They don't indulge themselves in such resentment.

I don't know, maybe you don't like Americans because you provoke negative reactions in them, somehow? What are we supposed to do, smile and forego rebutting your rampant ignorance?

I mean look at this guy:

Yeah TUM is about as American as Canadian Bacon, btw.

What exactly do you mean by "look at this guy"?

If an American is preaching to me about how wonderful his country is, why shouldn't I raise some issues that point towards America not being not so great? What makes your opinion more valid than mine? What makes your ignorance less "rampant" than mine?

Please tell me. I'd love to be englightened by someone who does not suffer from "rampant ignorance".

I've already enlightened you about TUM's nationality. Just looking at it, its a little silly to get aggressive with someone who's not American about being a puffed-up patriot and then claim that you only respond to Americans preaching how great their country is. But I don't know anything about you, so I won't make any assumptions about your character.

BTW, its not anti-American to say bad things about America. This BucheonGuy crossed the line when he indicted every American collectively for things that piss him off about the American government.

^^^ Fair enough. I guess I should have included something like an *emphatic arm wave* in my post because when I said puffed up patriots I was referring more to those who answer any critisism with "Oh, oh. . .it's because you want to be like us/We're the best/Texas rox" or some similarly inane claptrap.

You might as well stick a fork in it because America is DONE!!!!!!

The bottom line is that we are broke. Greed and corruption have killed America. I just fear what the elites and those in power are going to do to try to hold on to the number one position (another terrorist attack to justify another war, etc).
