Thanks YOU MR Dokdo. Your brilliant post completely backfired. You just gave us a post in which to complain and we can now complain rather then on a specific thing. We can complain about Korea in general and we can also complain about YOU, too!

Thanks once again for providing us a place to complain!

Next time you want to end complaining try starting on a positive note. Like little old lady gave me some extra odang today for free. OR Why you like Korea! OR Rather then you guys suck!

The whole piece is a mess, but I don't think you'd understand why. Still, even you ought to be able to fix the bits highlighted above. OK, English "teacher"?

Dude, you're annoying as hell. I'm a teacher myself, not a "teacher" as you like. Most...I mean most like not 51%, not like 70%, more like 90% are not teachers. Deal with it or gtfo. If you want a country with credentialed English teachers, go to the US, Canada, Australia, S.A, Iran, U.K., or man..just go home. Most of these people just couldn't get a job as an engineer so they're biding their time. Don't befront them for that.

I'm a fellow troll, and even I'm annoyed with you.

It's a longstanding tradition at Dave's.

If you weak-kneed apologists and sensitive gyopos wanna praise Korea 24/7 then only pay attention to those kinds of threads or else find yourself a KimParkLee Cafe.

Let us be.

Then there are people like you who stick their heads in the sand and ignore the problems of living in Korea.

And they are happy. In my book, when all is said and done, you can't beat happiness.

I know they are not teachers, which is why I refer to them as "teachers"; and the percentage is more like 97% (not 90%). That 97% conists mostly of youthful misfits who are on a long vacation (and "teach" English to make a bit of pocket-money) or have simply lost their way.

Anyway, why do the biding here? They are unhappy, endlessly whining about this and that, and the Korean kids aren't learning anything. A win-win situation: they go home, the real teachers replace them, and everyone becomes happy. What problem do you have with that, buddy?

I have a problem with that. There are no real teachers to replace them. They are busy teaching in more satisfying educational environments. Didn't you know?

I think the criticism that people whine on this board about Korea and should leave is absurd coming from you, because you keep whining about a site that bothers you yet continue to stick around.

Yes, Dave's is a nasty, vicious, hostile pit of snakes, and in my opinion the way it depicts Korea is far from the reality; but for all that I enjoy reading what people say around here, and appreciate having an avenue that allows for vitriolic interpretation of the Korean situation. And I think Dave's should remain overly negative, because the other sources of information on Korea (Korean news, books, Korean people) are often overly positive, and by taking both doses of Dave's and the local propaganda you get a more balanced view of things. Granted, if Dave's was people's only source of information then it could be considered a problem, but who is really like that? Most people here interact with Koreans on a daily basis, browse through the local media, listen to their students, view a few blogs, and pop into Dave's. I consider that a quite healthy diet that would be lacking something if the Dave's component was missing.

As for me, I find that when I put the Dave's hat on I become a lot nastier and malicious than I am in real life, as I'm sure most people around here do, even Straphanger. That's the nature of this place and part of it's appeal. Besides, I don't think it really is negative because frequenting this site has definitely greatly improved my knowledge and understanding of Korea. I appreciate the news articles that Troll Bait and Wylies post, the podcasts, the advice from old-timers, and especially the laughter I get from some of the acidic bickering and sharp one-liners that crackle through these pages. In fact, if Dave's was to change then I probably would stop reading it.

So if you don't like it Dokdo, maybe you should leave Dave's. Or at least stop posting the some thing over and over again about how people should lighten-up and start kissing Ajosshi's feet. Indulge us this sewing circle of complaint and allow us but a few brief moments of respite please, before the supervisors round us up and force us back into the mines for another class.

It's not called KimParkLee Cafe. It's called Asia Finest.

You're simply not gonna get a credentialed teacher to come over here for less than 3mil + housing and healthcare. Not to mention that most of us went to school for four years so we wouldn't have to tramp around Asia looking for a job. Me, myself, and I was a teacher before I realized that the pay sucked, made a bunch of money doing something else, then came here. But you gotta remember, there's nothing attracting credentialed teachers to this place. Do you know any who can find Korea on a map? It's China's *beep* for goodness sake.

I've had better postings and I've had worse ones, but you're not going to get certified teachers for what they're paying me. If you can, let's start a Hakwon and get some bodies in some seats.

Exactly. If Mr-Dokdo has a problem with these forums then he should try Asia's Finest. Koreans routinely get slammed and picked on by their fellow Asians there.

If he ever posted a thread like this on there he'd be absolutely torn apart.

Count your blessings Mr-Dokdo and appreciate what you have here on ESL Cafe. If you don't like it, you can always leave. Wink

I nominate this for Post of the Year (especially the bolded phrase above)

No, no, no. It's you and your friends who should leave---Korea, that is.
