Daily, I drink a cup of green tea mixed with licorice root. It seems to regulate my energy levels. Licorice is naturally very sweet. It is also beneficial for the health in general. You can buy licorice root at any traditional market, but it is better to buy it at a traditional medicine store, because the root chips are bigger and more mature. I often will drink a hot cup of licorice root before I have a couple bottles of Soju, because it helps reduce dehydration that my body suffers during alcohol consumption. Wink

So does water. I can't stress this enough. If you are going to get drunk on anything, before you go to bed, drink a crap load of water. Your body and your mind will thank you for it.

Are you bored? Homesick? Depressed? Lonely? Who do you love?
Are you getting enough oxygen?
Do you like your job?
Here's another idea if you feel tired: sleep more. Some people need it.

Just great, one more newbie who, for whatever reason, still thinks it's amusing to mimick Korean pronunciation of English. Get back to us when you break 25. Maturity can set in by then whether or not you even try.

Too many empty calories. Bread and cereal, marmalade... no nutritional value at all.

But it could be depression. This weather coupled with my crap PS placement has sent me into a deep state of depression where all I do is sit home and eat chocolate. It's so cold and grey it's paralyzing, and when you are miserable at your job, or even mildly unhappy, on top of that...

Uhhmm, maybe you just need a break. Last spring, I finished my work, went home for a few months, did a lot of partying, spent some quality time with long lost friends, enjoyed some home cooking and the family, and relaxed. I just forgot about everything. Then, I got a new job and came back in the summer, refreshed and now, I don't take things too seriously anymore. I do my job to the best of my ability and enjoy life.

Possibly, this is what you need to do as well. Good luck.

I read that it's a normal occurrence for people to feel tired about 6 hours after they wake up. So if your normal wake up time is 7am, then 1pm would be the time you would feel a little sleepy. Try:

- Drinking coffee at lunch
- Changing up your diet a little, introduce new things
- Doing exercises other than walking. Exercise with a little more intensity to get your heart going. Jogging perhaps?

Also, if you're bored in the afternoons, that probably has a lot to do with it. Plan something stimulating for the afternoons, if not for the students, then for yourself.

Edit: Some interesting reads...
- Sleeping on the job
- Afternoon Slump
- New Respect for the Nap, a Pause That Refreshes
- Google "afternoon slump"

I am trying not to fall asleep at my desk. Shall I go and lie down in one of the beds at our school?

I've never completely understood whether they are meant to be used for when you are sick or sleepy.

I've raised the issue about sleeping at work before on this forum. I don't want to be frowned upon by my school, to the extent where I am seen as taking liberties.

I also wouldn't want this to be mentioned to the Principal.

Any definitive answers? Laughing

Try some multivitamins with selenium.

Also, try to find out if you're eating a lot of MSG. If so, quit eating it.

I and others at school sometimes put our heads down on the desks for a 20-minute nap. Right now, a guy through the partition is snoring and it's ok.
Sometimes the VP looks like a giant venus-fly-trap.
A nap always sorts you out, or try not taking too much sleep at night, eating fewer calories etc.

Take your turban of and use it as a cushion for your head, cool-you may be able to leave it on and use as a cushion ㅋㅋㅋ. Where can I buy a turban in Seoul?????

I don't wear a turban, just a bald head. The need for sleep has passed me by.

I feel sleepy after lunch.

You have way too many refined sugars in that diet. That's why your energy gets drained.

Apologies. I remember you saying something about your head and that you were a muslim, somehow turban came to my mind. Sorry, but it wouldn't it be awfully cool to have a cushion stuck to the head for napping purposes.
