So with the recent economic problems facing the world, there have been more calls for protectionism and other short-sighted populist policies. For instance, now in San Francisco there are 3 proposed laws that would increase rent control. Hello people, why do you think rent is so high in SF to begin with?? Amazing how people don't learn from the past. Either that or will sell themselves out to get as many votes as possible, consequences be damned.

The badness of rent control is apparently the #1 idea on which economists are most likely to agree.
