you dont understand how wars work eh? becuase if you haven't invaded these countries already you're never going to do it .. you're not going to invade russia , china, iran or NK .. because they have nukes .. you dont invade countries with nukes .... do you understand ? when was the last time a country with nuke was invaded ? never . or even countries with possible nuclear programs .. thats why iran and Nk are untouchable right now .. what are u going to do ? attack nk ? well there goes a nuke headed towards japan .. good thinking .. time to use diplomacy .. it doesnt seem like american military muscle has worked anywhere lately .. nor any military |

Do you understand how wars work Shark? One wouldn't invade China or Russia not because thay have nukes. You wouldn't invade them because they have nuclear DELIVERY systems. A nuke in a bunker is pretty damn useless. But on a bomber, submarine or tip of a missile, very useful indeed. As far as I know NK has no delivery system (except for a truck) that they can use. Therefore the use of a nuke by NK is essentially a suiide shot. Therefore it is not a deterrant. |

you just confirmed what i said, you dont know for sure .. " as far as i know" and clearly you are not working for military analysists or things of this nature if youre browsing this forum.. no one knows for sure what they have .. therefore, its too imprudent and irrational to take a chance.. and if its not a deterrant then why hasnt addressed the nk question more seriously.. nk has nukes and thus a higher barganing chip than jp, sk etc |

Well sharkey, I cant agree more that it's all about Might is Right.
You are weak? Here comes the blessing of Freedom and Democracy attached with carpet bombings, rapes and mutilation.
What? you have nukes? ok Lets have talks. All of a sudden we pull this belief out of our ass that we can resolve everything through talks.
So, to all those bunch of poor low lives of Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somali and Burma. Prepare do face our democracy and freedom.
And to NK, China, Russia and Iran. Lets talk.
If people still cant understand the above principles then they better watch what hyenas and vultures do. |

If that happened, then you wouldn't have the Red Door selling those rare American goods so highly valued by many on this board. I went once so far and it was the only place I know of that sells Advil or ibuprofen that actually knocks out pain as the Korean pharmacy ibuprofen doesn't work. Bio cybernetic robots also need and can use goods intended for human consumption 
OP, America can't afford 1000 bases as we're broke and going into huge debt funded by China. How thoughtful of the Chinese to support the great empire who brought the ideas of modern technology such as microchips, gas engines, democracy, capitalism to a communist state, A/C, refrigeration, automobiles, microchips, radio communications, internet, rocketry, space travel, wine, cheese, cows, fashion, drugs, being a free thinking autonomous individual, and the concept of making money in business to achieve individual freedom and independence are the signature of America. If you notice, everywhere you go, all around you are the very things resulting from how America changed the world during the 20th century. Actually China supports our great conquest of the world, becuase we support them by buying their cheap craptastic junky goods.
And the 1001 bases of the USA empire will rock on and fight many more wars only based on rumors of suspected weapons of mass destruction and terrorists support to manifest fear. |

Nothing in life is a 100% guarantee. "As far as I know" the sun will rise in the morning. I'm 99.999999999999% certain that it will but I can't guarantee it. In the case of NK (just as an example) if they have a delivery system more sophisticated than a truck or ship I'll eat my shorts. Their missile technology is based on the SCUD (and we all know how good those are). The technological sophistication required to mount a nuke on a missile (for example) is WAY beyong the Norths capabilities.
In addition their nuclear test was a dud. Yes they detonated a bomb that released radiation but by all accounts (read Jane's) it was a failure. I'm not a defense expert (and neither are you) but I have spent years looking at hard and soft power issues. My Masters Degree is in International Relations, so yes, I have studied military issues. The North's 1,000,000 man army would give me more pause than their "nuclear status". What Clausewitz said in 1832 still is true today. Potential Power does not equal Power.
As to the OP, I'm all in favor of shutting down the US's military bases abroad. For economic, military, and political reasons. I think a small handful is all that is necessary. |
