My new co-teacher is (unintentionally) hilarious. Her English isn't so great, but she tries really hard. She carries around her little electronic English dictionary everywhere. Here are some funny things she's said:

"March is orientation. April is cruelty and cold-hearted." -- ??? wtf does this mean?!

"What grade do you belong in gather teacher specification?" -- she was trying to ask me which grade teachers I sit when during teachers meetings in our giant teachers meeting room

"Your face is not good today. Maybe your intestines are twist? Or food inside stomach no in toilet?" -- I was sick that day

And now you have the dilema of teaching her better English or declining to help her and enjoying the one-liners instead.

I don't consider it part of my job to correct/teach my co-teachers.

Today, I heard "You say sh*t! You say sh#t! Come on everybody, you say sh#t!"

I fell over laughing which earnt me a bit of a dirty look. I know that she was saying "you say shhhhh" but somehow that didn't make it any less funny.

Last semester from my innocent 24 year old co-teacher:

"After school I will ride you."

She was trying to offer me a ride home. She continued to say that throughout the semester; I choose internal chuckles to correcting her.

They try so hard to use English when they could have just said "Be quiet!!" in Korean.

My co-teacher just now asked another teacher (maths) in my office how to spell the name of our school. It's an easy name only five letters. She's not a new teacher nor is she new to the profession, I think it's her third year here. Shocked

you guys always know exactly what they're trying to say - the one with the translator is using it to say it verbatim from Korean and we know how "translations" come out in almost every language, right?

if these were my coteachers, depending on what kind of relationship I had with them, I would correct them, gently (assuming I had the relationship I have with my current ones).

the ride you, I would have had a field day with and once again would have gently pointed out the sexual connotation with my younger female coteachers with whom I joke around ALL the time. The older female one, interestingly enough, is closer to me in age but our relationship is far more formal, so with her I may not have done this.

Undoubtedly she was quoting T.S. Eliot http://www.bartleby.com/201/1.html

One of my Co-teacher tried to say that we should make lessons together, but instead it came out as...

"you, me, make out lesson." to which the only response was a hearty yes. (thankfully it wasnt one of the ugly adjumas that said it :0)

Back before the US election one of my co-teachers came up and asked me "Does Canada have a coloured problem?"....

I think she is trying to quote T.S. Eliot's "The Waste Land".

"APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding..."

I guess her way of a high humor.

She is really trying hard to be your friend.

This is one of the most common way to say, "You don't look well today. Are you feeling okay?"

I'm surprised she didn't offer to blood the bad blood out with a thread and a sewing needle.
