The Japanese government could deploy two arsenal ships equipped with the latest Aegis radar system and interceptor Standard Missile in the East Sea if North Korea continues to prepare for a missile test, the Kyodo news agency reported Tuesday citing a senior official at the Japanese Ministry of Defense.
But Kyodo added if a North Korean missile targets the United States, it will be difficult for Japan's SM-3 to intercept it.
Tokyo warned North Korea it would intercept not only missiles but also a satellite launched by the communist country ... |
If North Korea goes ahead with its missile launch, it may awaken Japan from its over-60-year-old pacifist slumber. |

Personally, if it's a choice between pacifist slumber or how they behaved during World War II I'll choose the former. |

| It would be brilliant if they tried to test-fire one and the Japs shot it down mid-flight (though not as nice as if it exploded upon take-off). |

| No satellite launch should be going over Japan from the DPRK. |

Nor should Japan care. As soon as they pick up the "plume" of a launch they should shoot it down. Call it spite.

sounds like just something a Japanese politician said - to get higher ratings in the polls...
Japan is waisting its time - if they actually deploy the ships - because the USA has already stated it will not only shoot down anything the North launches - but that it will also destroy the area (land) from which the North deployed the projectile.

| Yeah, cause of that I reckon they won't launch now cause they'll loose too much face as a result. |

| No one wants to see them be the same as the late 1800's and early 1900's again, but they need to start standing up for themselves. This is a step in the right direction. |

Yikes.
Where is China in all this?
I worry that Kim Jung Il's final hoorah before he kicks the bucket will be to solicit all out war. After all, he's God right? Why not go out with a bang? |

Ooooh, and re-create the universe?
I'm fairly certain he doesn't claim to be god, since communists are usually for athiesm |
