i changed the title cuz i wanted to actually hear what others have seen..
i saw just today a motor scooter towing one of those ric-shaw type hand carts which was of course too full.. it was connected by a 2' piece of rope and he was moving at about 5kmph... wow
here are just a few... any others we should follow?
when it is dark - turn your lights off
red lights mean - go
when changing lanes - never indicate
when going around a slight bend in the road - always change lanes without indicating
when there are cars parked on the side of the road - always try to overtake by driving in the lane where the parked cards are
when queuing up to turn left or right - queue up side by side rather than front to back
everytime you use the brakes - push the hazzard light button also
everything bad you do on the road will be forgiven - when you push the hazzard light button
everytime you stop at traffic lights - take the car out of gear and apply the handbrake
if there is a car blocking your passage on a narrow street - hold your hand on the horn until they come and move it (even if it takes an hour)
if there is a car 100 meters in front of you that looks like at some point in the future he could be an obstacle - honk your horn
Whenever you see a coffee girl - giveway, cuz they have an important job to do.
if you need to merge with some traffic - don't bother looking, someone will give way.

I love what I'll dub "The hand of Darwin". If you've driven here, for any amount of time you've had some joker make an insanely dangerous lane change which causes you to lock-up your brakes.
What does the offending driver do? He raises his hand in a Papal gesture, absolving himself of blame. Grrrrrrrrrr.
"The hand of Darwin" is far more appropriate when used by pedestrians j-walking. |

Heh.. that bought back some good memories.
I remember about three years ago was doing some roas trips with a korean lass that always used her hazard lights when braking on the motorway..heh. Her car interior was quite spick and span but for the hazard light button which was all scratched to hell! |

If a pedestrian suddenly, illegally, walks out in front of your car DON'T HONK your horn. That is rude and Koreans don't like that. Just run them over and then flap down the sides of your truck and let the Rolling Stones rock, dude. It's the Stones LIVE in Korea! |

Get the hell outta the way of a bus.
Sidewalks are best used to avoid something dangerous like hitting a car... it is far safer to your vehicle to hit a pedestrian.
The speedbump in front of my hagwan (and elementary school) is best used to see how much "air" you can get while driving through a school zone.
While transporting objects, do not attempt to secure them as this could result in some of them making it to the destination, requiring you to do work to unload them. |

Quick summary of Korean road rules: I am the only driver on the road. All other human or physical agents are merely obstacles to me getting home four seconds earlier, and they should know better.
Actually, this isn't far from the road rules of some Canadian cities.

it's funny. When I drive in Korea I feel like the pedestrians walk out into the road without taking the vehicular traffic into consideration and when I walk I feel like the drivers couldn't care less about the pedestrians.
I don't get it!
Must be something about "consideration". I just can't get it. How am I supposed to be considerate in Korea? |

When driving a scooter don't worry about road rules as they don't apply to you as you're too busy driving on the side walk. If your're delivering something God help any pedestrian in your way; constantly honking will not make anything that happens your fault |
