Wow.
I should start a petition to give Canadians higher salary since we have to pay income tax in Canada and Americans don't have to pay tax for 2 years...  |

Canada should allow Koreans to go to Canada nad work the first two years tax-free like the US does.

Who says you have to pay tax in Canada? I never have.
As long as you don't own property or have children in Canada, you don't have to claim your overseas earnings on your Canadian tax return. You have to pay tax here, but not in Canada.
If you do claim your earnings in Canada, you're simply throwing your money away.
I mailed out my tax return today and I put "0" in all the boxes. I've done that every year since I've been here and Revenue Canada just sends me back an assessment with "0" on it and all is good. |

I know that I can write "0", but aren't we legally supposed to pay tax unless we declare as non-resident? |

america on the otherhand is the opposite, they pay taxes to the american government no matter where they live in the world |

Why do people constantly give the wrong info? If you do not know what you are talking about, stay quiet.
For Americans who read this, we have to file but you have an exemption of 82500. If you make more than that abroad you have to pay taxes and if you do make more than that doing ESL in Korea, please let me have your job. |

You clearly have no freaking idea what you are talking about. Yes, we still file taxes, but that doesn't mean we have to pay. |

Sorry guys, but you're wrong.
Americans must file taxes, but are exempt from the first $85,000 they make overseas. When I make around 7 million won per month teaching English, I'll start worrying about it (depends on the exchange rate of course). |
