So I'm finally getting a dog. I was wondering what places I can take her in? She's pretty small.
I live in Itaewon- but am open to suggestions around the city |

I lived in Seoul, and couldn't find anywhere I could take my dog (indoors). He was only about 15lbs, but uncomfortable to carry. Places like COEX wont let you bring them in, even if you're carrying them.
Outdoors, there's the Han River, Seoul Forest, Olympic park... etc. |

I take mine everywhere. I bought one of those doggy strollers with a covered front, and we go pretty much everywhere - malls, metro, etc. Looks just like a baby stroller. It's awesome in the airports too because the airports check it at the gate like a child's stroller so we can wander around the airport browsing before flights. |

Can I ask why people carry around teeny dogs in contraptions obviously made for a baby? It's obvious the conclusion you can draw, but can you ladies explain why I constantly see a woman in my neighbourhood in Itae wearing one of those baby-backpacks with a dog in it? I'm not trying to be funny, and I love dogs and all animals, but don't you think it's completely ridiculous to carry something that can walk?
OP, I've seen dogs in all kinds of stores, especially wee ones that are a bit too small to be left outdoors. The only place I could see it not flying is in a sit-down restaurant. |

As someone who has fairly severe allergies to dogs, I'd hope that you consider the people around you when deciding where to take your pet. Obviously walking outside or carrying them through the mall isn't a big deal, but anywhere that your dog sits, in a restaurant, on a chair in a store, that hair gets on my clothes and then I need to use an asthma puffer for a week.
I love pets as much as the next person, but dogs don't belong in restaurants or stores, no matter how small they are. |

That's a shame. But your beef should be with the establishments and their choice of rules. If you are bothered by places that allow animals, go to those that don't. There are plenty to choose from. |

Obviously I would be choosing the place because it allows animals- so maybe allergic people wouldnt go there. Places who cater to pet lovers and allow them to be social too. I once saw a cafe where you could bring your dog- but it was way out of town I think. I was just hoping some people would have heard of some places... |

Do you mean the dog cafe in Hongdae? It's called Bau house...I've been, but never with my own dog. It's pretty cool though. Just make sure your one is socialised well and won't cause a ruckus. I can give you directions if you want? |

These contraptions are extremely handy living here. Many malls and stores have rules about dogs or other pets going in if their paws touch the ground, or possibly urinating on the goods if down low, but if they are in a stroller or holder then they are welcome. I can understand the lady putting her's in a backpack because with all the foot traffic in certain areas as an owner I don't want to take a chance that my dogs will trip someone or get under someone's feet. Whenever my dogs can be in an area where they can walk safely, then for sure they are out of the stroller and on their feet walking, as I suspect the same is for the backpack lady. I prefer not to leave my dogs at home any more than I absolutely have to, so using these "contraptions" make this possible. They contain the pet and allow a person to travel on metro, and buses, or go around town with ease, and allow their pet to join them. |

I don't live in Seoul, but I take my dog all over the place in my neck of the woods. He goes to the bar with me. He goes to the convenience store. I obviously don't take him to the large chain places like HomePlus. He rides the train with me. It is kind of nice that there aren't so many restrictions. He is tiny though. |

Cool, which shelter? My avatar pup was from Daejeon back in the day. Anyway here's your directions:
Go along 'parking lot street' towards Tin Pan Alley. When you get to the By the Way, cross the street. Just straight across. Then, I'm a little shady on this, but I think it's like the third of fourth right turn. Just keep a look out down to your right. The building is just down the street a little, and on the 2nd or third floor. You'll be able to look up at the outside windows and see the Bau house logo on the windows. Jump in the lift and there you go. Expect a barky welcome when you go in...but it's pretty fun.
Now all I demand is that you post a picture as soon as you have your little un |

Yeah, I do this too. It's far easier out in the sticks. We take her to the local mart, to the chicken place downstairs...um....that's about all we have here. But they welcome her! Recently they opened a Tous Les Jours downstairs and they had to tell me that they don't allow dogs in there...what with all the food lying around. DUH. My bad. But it's deffos harder in Seoul. No one even complains when I walk around in my pjs with a severe case of bedhead for her morning bathroom break. There's really got to be some positives. |
