I'm taking my MBA and need textbooks. The local campus bookstores will probably rip me off, so I'm seeing if anyone knows where I can get business books at a good deal.
These are your usual business textbooks from publishers like Prentice Hall and McGraw Hill. |

Check the Kyobo bookstores in your city. I have bought many such books from Kyobo. If you cannot find what you are looking for in the store, try to Kyobo bookstore website. Though the site is in Korea, you can find the "외국도서" near the top. Click that and then you can search with English keywords.
Also, G-Market has a decent selection of textbooks if you search around for them.
Here is a list of books such as the ones you are looking for I have found in Kyobo..
International Business - Pearson Education
Principles of Economics - "mankiw" from Thompson Southwestern
Marketing - McGraw-Hll
International Marketing - McGraw Hill
Strategic Brand Management - Pearson Education
Advertising - Pearson Education
Strategic Management - Pearson/Prentice Hall
World Trade and Payments - Pearson
Modern Industrial Organization - Pearson
International Logistics - Thomson
International Economics - McGraw-Hill
And just ordered 2 more from the Kyobo website concerning Risk Management/Currency and International Shipping
Most of the ones I bought in store were between 30,000 - 40,000 won. The ones from the website i listed above, are way more expensive, thought they are professional textbooks for graduate level. You might find more detailed selection on the website.
Good luck with your search.. |

As a side note..you should check with your professors to see if they have any English language books in their office. I took a Management Science(Quantitative) course last semester, and had alot of trouble finding an English book for the course. My professor loaned me a book, which happens to be the premier book for the subject (Anderson/Sweeney). That book goes for about $460 on Amazon.com.
However, he advised me to take his book to the copy room in our building and photocopy it. I have to say having a 770 page book copied and bound for 31,000 won sure as hell beats paying $460 for one. I don't condone illegal activity I should add...but who am I to argue with a professor who orders me to do something.
Another option if you are having trouble finding books. |

I went to Kyobo bookstore in Gangnam today and Principles of Economics by Mankiw was about 32,000. Definitely cheaper than the over $100 you would pay in Canada or the US.
They also had an Introduction to International Political Economy book from the Pierson Education publishers for 27,000 I think. |

| Academic books here are dirt cheap compared to European and American standards. |

I find campus book stores to be really cheap in Korea!
Books there were at maximum a third of the price in Canada or the U.S.
Or, try What the Book in Itaewon. I saw they had a bit of a section for business textbooks that I used during my MBA. They might be older editions though but worth a shot. |
