I'm flying home to England for christmas this year. I have a single entry visa. What's my options? I only expect to go home once in my year long contract. Can I go to Immi at Incheon before I fly? I was told somewhere that British people don't need to pay 50 000 like the americans or canadians, apparently it's free. Can anyone verify this? |
You can get a re-entry permit from the immigration office at the airport before you check in for your flight (located in the hallway on the back wall of the departures area behind Check-in counter "F" and BEFORE you go into security. )
You will need your ARC and passport. Takes 5-40 minutes depending on the lineup in front of you. As a Brit it should be free for you. Other nationalities pay 30k won.
You CAN get a new re-entry permit each time you travel and there is NO LIMIT on how many you can get.

Is Mokdong the only place to get the multi-reentry visa in Seoul? Is there a place in Kangnam? |
I got told by incheon immigration that you need to get your multi -reentry visa from the immigration office that your registered at.

can someone confirm this? |
Yes. I will confirm it.
A MULTI-re-entry visa must be processed at the office who has jurisdiction over you (where you are registered at).
A SINGLE re-entry permit can be obtained from any exit office (airport or sea port) immigration office. |

Just a quickie, does anyone know if I need to show the Immigration people at the airport my return ticket when trying to get my re-entry stamp. I have my outbound ticket but my inbound is in England. I do have the itinerary confirmation showing both journeys. |

As long as you have your ARC, passport and have signed the application form you can get a re-entry permit. IF you are British it is free. IF you are NOT British it will cost you 30k won.
You do NOT need to show your return ticket. |

I'm not sure if Americans can GET single entry. Whenever I've asked I've always been stared at like I have three heads and told "Americans automatically M."
But this being Korea, who the hell knows. |

No ARC (and single entry visa) = NO re-entry permit. Full stop, no exceptions. |

Ok, so here's my friends situation.
Hes been here almost 4 months and hes planning on going home for Christmas. His boss didnt send him on his Visa run until 3 months in and then didnt apply for the ARC until a while after that. Now my friend is left with no multiple entry Visa and no ARC, but he still wants to go home for Christmas. Does he have any options of what he can do?
If he leaves on a single entry Visa and then returns, will they let him back into the country? Will they just cancel his Visa and he can return on a tourist Visa? Since all the Visa requirements have changed, does he have to get an new E2 Visa while he is home for christmas?
I've read a bit about the new requirements. He has to get a criminal background check, transcripts, degree, letter from university confirming he attended there, a medical check. Anything else? How long will this take?
Is there any other way of getting around this?
Thanks alot for any info you have. |

If he hightails his azz down to the local immigration office and explains that he is leaving for his holiday and needs his ARC and re-entry permit ASAP, they CAN do it in one day. You will have to show the airticket out and back and be very contrite.
The other option is leave, lose his visa and start the visa application process all over again under the new rules - COMPLETE with a NEW VISA RUN. |

Hey, i decided to go to China for vacation over children's day last week and didn't tell my school I was going (I work for GEPIK)
Now today sitting over lunch my Vice asked me what I did and I told him I went to the EXPO in Shanghai (which was super sweet)
He freaked out and said my E-2 would be automatically changed to a tourist visa on returning.
I had the proper documents (ie: chinese visa and multiple re-entry permit) have also been working in Korea for over 2 years and have never had a problem like this. Is there something WEIRD you have to do with GEPIK schools. Like supposedly sign some document saying I will leave the country. I never had a problem at the airport (to be honest I think he's just freaking out for nothing)
Anyway help from some other GEPIK teachers would be very appreciated. Like what you did before travelling abroad, and anything special you might have done before hand??
No one seems to know exactly for sure, especially any Korean staff member. But honestly getting an honest answer in this country is harder than dating a member of G.G. Both are impossible, and sometimes if you open your mouth it just gets you in more trouble than it was worth. |
