Hey all,

I'm starting to think about where I want to go during summer vacation (need to decide soon so I can have my school pay for my flight) Very Happy So, I was wondering what you thought my best option you would be. The only concern that I have is with rainy season, but I know that this isn't a big deal in some countries as it only rains for a short time during the day. I have 3 weeks to travel, so I'm probably going to stick to one country. Any suggestions are definately appreciated. Thanks.

In August it's hot and humid HERE and in those places... so head for the beaches and islands of Korea and save your money for a winter getaway.

Or at least getaway from the heat and humidity of summer by going to Hokkaido, Japan or Russia or Europe. Your school is paying anyways. August in Helsinki, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Munich, Paris, Vienna et al is pleasant and a real getaway.

I am never jealous of someone going to Indonesia or Thailand in AUGUST! Shocked

I have a long overdue filial piety trip to make. That is a good part of my August.

Thailand was good last July and had better weather than the Phillipines had this winter. Flights were also cheaper in the winter.

I like parts of China and Nepal in summer as well.

I'd suggest a sort of Mediterranean trip.

Fly Korea to Istanbul (Turkey).

Have a wonderful week in Istanbul.

Then catch the overnight train to Thessalonika/Macedonia - interesting history - and then carry on to the rest of Greece/Athens for a few days.

Finish it off by going to one or two of the Greek islands (say Santorini, with its magnificent pure white houses on jagged cliffsides).

Ok, I'm going to throw another one out there. The gf and I have been talking about India. She's done 4 months in India in the winter, and is thinking she'd like to go back. Any suggestions?

What are prices like in Goa? What would a realistic budget be for 2 weeks for 2 people?

Too hot at this time, as many said.

Those places are better in October or February or some other time.

Hey everyone. I'm fully aware it's going to be hot in these places. I did Egypt for two weeks last summer and it was extremely hot there too. I like the heat, and I figure if I can manage two weeks in the desert during the summer, I can handle the heat of Asia in the summer time too. I'm just looking for suggestions on where to go...

Dude the heat isn't the problem. It is the Monsoonal rains and Typhoons! Be careful. Especaily in Vietnam and the Phillipines in August.

If I were you, I would go to Thailand.

Anything else guys and gals? I'm leaning towards Thailand now, but wondering how bad the monsoon season is in the North. Would it even be worth it in the summer time? Or, is it one of those things where it rains for an hour and then it's nice for the rest of the day?

the heat in egypt or any part of north africa is just hot sun heat whereas the heat in korea or south east asia is combined with overpowering humidy. I was in 50 degree heat in the sahara and loved with but could bearly deal with the humidy here in august.

totally agree with the greek islands or turkey Very Happy Very Happy
