I haven't found any reviews of people who have completed the Framingham masters. What's the word? It's good? Everyone's happy? No complaints?

I was all set to do my masters through Birmingham which has a 10 week intensive on campus program with a year of independent distance study. Then I found out about FSC, which is almost the same thing for 1/3 the price and in Korea.

Birmingham is a big name...FSC is a small name, but maybe still a quality degree, 1/3 the price and way more convenient.

Does anyone want to throw their 2 cents in? I�m really torn.

I'll be in Korea for another 10 years at least, my wife is Korean, already have a uni job. Mainly concerned about getting a good job in...let's say Europe, down the line. Will the masters matter that much in 10 years? I have a TEFL and CELTA as well.

Okay, I see nobody has come to my rescue and and gave information so that I didn't have to. Here's a useful website.

The program is now 70% finished for most people and as far as I know, the next cohort is starting next winter session, which would be in February.

The course is 100% in class and has no real online content. It works in 2 week intensive sessions where you go to class for 8 hours a day. As well, there are 2 months of pre-course work that is usually due on the first day. The classes themselves are interesting for the most part, even though it is hard to stay tuned in for 8 hours. It is not totally geared towards TESL and is actually an Education degree with some TESL content.

I myself am happy that the course is not online. Not because of its validity, but because studying online isn't for me. I missed the first class and had to take it online to catch up and it SUCKED!!! I hated doing it. Obviously, others feel differently.

If there are any more specific questions, it would be much easier for me to answer. I know that a lot of people have applied and that there is the potential to actually have 2 classes next time and not just one. So, I would definitely try to get in contact with the organizer soon.

My question is...do you think it would more much more benificial in the long run, if you're interested in teaching outside Korea, to go through Birmingham? How well will Framingham hold up on the international market?

Like I said, both Birmingham and Framingham offer what amounts to 10 weeks of intense on site work plus a year or so of independent study.

Birmingham is a much bigger international name. Framingham is much cheaper and convenient.

How are the dates handled for the 2 week onsite instruction? I work at a public school and my vacation dates are usually preset.

I am very happy with Birmingham so far. I like the course materials and I've met a lot of great fellow students. Also attended the summer seminar in Seoul and met another one of my professors at KOTESOL. It's a top-notch program.
