MORALS!!! you have yours and they have theirs!
every country you go to you can judge the locals on their morals!
does it mean its wrong? does it mean its right?
and how made the rules anyway!!
we can judge! I saw a lion kill a deer yesterday! we felt sorry for the deer! HEY! the lions gotta eat too... |
Very true, but I have difficulties thinking of anything that is more immoral in America than in Korea. Racism, prostitution, corruption, crime...it's all a bit worse here. Tell me if i'm wrong--I'd quite like to be. |

One out of 37 reasons I dont want to date Korean man...
I am not trying to be offensive, I know there are great Korean guys here, the thing is, I am really stupid to tell who are innocent and who are not (especially in ten years), so I generalize. |
Quite right; I always say: if I were a Korean girl, I'd date foreigners or become a lesbian. |

I think you're wrong on all counts except for corruption.
Racism is a tough one because it's manifested differently. It's also hard to compare because of different levels of development. On the whole though I've got to say I prefer non-violent Korean racism over the racial tension in the states.
Prostitution is also hard to compare. American hookers are generally disease-ridden junkies. Korean prositutes could be your co-teacher, the normal looking girl you see on the subway, your mother-in-law or your girlfriend. I'd say Korean prostitutes have a lot more agency than their American counterparts.
Crime. Are you serious? |

Ahyeon-dong is pretty famous for that same kind of place. For the Koreans, though, not the big noses. |

Are you talking about 'reported' crime? I wouldn't report a crime here unless it was something truly earth-shattering, and even then I certainly wouldn't be holding my breath for the local finest to do anything approaching a competent job.
Apparently many Koreans feel the same way. Be careful of stats there, buddy.
At least an American cop will put an a-hole's face in the dirt. In Korea they'd be just as likely to bow down to the belligerent a-hole because he yells louder and is older than them. I've seen that happen time and time again.
I generally like Korea, but the police here often prove themselves to be the equivalent of foreskin - that being the extra skin on the end of a @@@@. |

I'll hazard a guess.
You were senselessly mutilated at birth. |

You are very astute, young Grasshopper. Luckily, I do not cry about my lack of foreskiniada, as I never knew them. So be it.
Anyway, your username perhaps now has much greater meaning to the Dave's community. Thanks for sharing, and let's get back on topic and resume our discussion of whores.. |

You have transcended into the elite realm of fellow Dave's Off-Topic posters whom I respect.
I assume all here are go green, earthy, liberal, vegan, new age, pinko, hippie wannabes until they prove me wrong.
Congratulations.
I shall share my experience(s) relating to the rampant overt and covert prostitution in Korean culture,
but I'll have to compose a protracted, irritatingly wordy post of the likes I never bother looking at. |

By all means, protract your irritating wordiness. Send the composition into the ether.....
(I gotta go to bed right f'in now before I start eyeballing one of the bottles in my liquor cabinet)
You're on notice, mole. I'll be checking for your submission late night tomorrow evening (I mean a written one, not one out of your uncut junk), and it better be good. |

d00d.
I'm reminded of Beavis, Butthead, a certain grasshopper, and a chainsaw.
Alas, they sawed off my tweeter at birth also.
I'm just pizzed off about it.
I wonder if I have recourse.
Can I sue my parents or the medieval so-called professional medical staff who performed that unspeakable deed? |

Yeah I'm sure there is a lot that goes unreported, and I agree about the effectiveness of the Korean police force, but even if the true figures were known, I feel Korea is a lot safer and has a lot less crime than the US in general. |

ROFLMFAO
I think there's more crime in Korea--I've heard a lot of stories of theft. There's less violent crime for sure, but if you take into account the prostitution, the illegal businesses, the copyright infringement--there's tons of crime in Korea. It just happens to be the crime I like. |
