Work ethic....well spotted.

As time goes by, I feel a mild sense of outrage when asked to do something that requires effort at work. I feel like I want to do as little as possible and get paid for it.

I also feel a sense of anxiety, when asked to do anything more than what I actually want to do.

My new co-teacher seems okay so far. She hasn't asked me to do anything.

Do you like to do as little as possible while getting paid for it?

Do you feel anxious when you're asked to do something, which requires extra thought, planning and action?

As much as I like sitting around, I truthfully prefer to always be busy with something.

In one way it's nice, I've been here since the 1st of February, and I've been paid to come in and surf the internet.

What makes me anxious is that the middle school english books suck, and I'm afraid the lessons I thought up are too easy or uninteresting.

This is generally the country to be in for an English job, if those are your feelings. Be careful in "Saudi" though. Taking pay without actually working could be considered a form of theft and they may cut off your hands.

Perhaps, this is why I feel quite comfortable here. I will consider my options carefully. While I do that, Gyeonggi is okay.

Because I am 'in charge' of the class, I make sure we finish class on time, or even a bit before time. This year is going to be easy if I manage to renew my contract in May.

I make sure the students leave class at the end on their own, instead of me standing at the door every time, as enfored by my last handler.

I am making life as easy and stress free as possible, my co-teacher is happy to go with the flow and not instruct me in any way. Life is good right now. What a major contrast to last year.

I was at the point mentioned in the OP a while ago. They really took it easy on my during the last half of last year: no extra classes and it seemed half of my classes were canceled each week. Anytime I was asked to do something, I would have to suppress this little ball of seething anger boiling inside my head.

Now it's a new year and everyone is being ambitious and giving me loads of work. We got a new English lab and I have to adapt three years' worth of lesson plans to use the new equipment, and they're trying to dump more extra classes on me than ever before. The outrage has been replaced by guilt at having had minimal working hours for the last eight months, and I'm currently working my ass off.
