I've been invited to give a lecture about presentation skills at a workshop. The workshop is made up of government employees.

The lecture time is only one hour, but I would be required to drive myself (about 150km) to the workshop site.

What kind of fee should I be asking for this?

What kind of qualifications and experiences qualify you to give a presentation on this topic? How much time is it going to take to put together a presentation appropriate for the audience? How large is the audience?

If you have an MA and more than two years of experience teaching relevant subject matter, and it takes you about three hours to put together a good presentation for a group of 25, then I would ask for a fee of W 500k (commute inclusive).

If you're doing someone a favour, less.

They're going to give you around 150,000 including transportation.

If you don't ask for more, you're not going to get more. Professionals ask for as much as they are worth.

If it's government they have strict guidelines set out. They won't compromise.

Over the past eight years I've worked with the governments of two provinces in teacher training and other fields; the money is there, but you need to show you're worth it, and, of course, you have to ask for it. If you don't ask, they'll be happy to pay you whatever they think is adequate.

my wife works at the office of education.

so, i know they pay something like 10,000 or 20,000 per page of handouts that you make.

also, she gets about 50,000 for a travel expense if she needs to go about 100km.

the handout cost does not include the cost of doing the presentation.

i also know a guy with an MA did two 2 hour presentations and got like 250,000 for it. this was in his hometown and to middle school teachers as an audience, also, this was in 2004.

good luck, please let us know what you get, i am curious, if you dont mind.

If the OP works for PSs, then maybe 50,000 for the lecture, 50,000 for 5 pages of material and 50,000 for the travel.

I was given 70,000 as travel allowance for a Busan-Seoul-Busan trip. Non-negotiable.

If you ask for 500,000 won they are going to get someone else.
