|
|
Hey,
I'm wondering how best to watch downloaded movies / programmes on my new 42" TV.
I can't connect my computer to the TV because it's in another room, so I'm thinking that I should buy a PMP with video out and transfer the files to the PMP and then connect that to the TV. Is it the best way, and if so does anyone know the cheapest model of PMP that has this capability?
Are there other options? For example, does there exist a kind of machine that maybe just incorporated a web browser and hard drive? If it was cheap enough, that would probably be the best way to go if I could browse the net through my TV and download to the machine.
Sorry if I'm not making much sense here. I am usually pretty tech savvy but I haven't eaten since last night. |

You might want to try a TVIX Box (look it up on Gmarket). I have one, and it's the stuff.
Another idea is to buy an old laptop with a reasonable video-out and some USB thumbdrives. Or buy a desktop computer and hook it up to the TV as a monitor. This way you can stream live TV when you discover it.
Really, you should just but the TVIX. I got one that holds half a TB for around 300K Won, and cannot live without it. |

I have an mvix 780hd. It can output in 1080p but can't read .264 files. Other than that it has played everything I have thrown at it.
it is a nice little player, has wireless and can work as a NAS device, (so you can access files on your computer). It also has to usb slots so it can read external harddrives and even an external dvd drive
I picked it up for 200,000 six months ago including a 500gig harddrive
There are better ones out there if you want to spend a little more.
The other option could be to run a long hdmi cable and use a wireless mouse

I have the Mvix 780DVI WiFi case and I love it, same as the poster above but I have a 1TB in mine and a Hardbox dual HDD USB case with 1TB and a 500GB combined linked via a USB to the Mvix. Total then is 2.5TB of vids, docs and TV all linked nice and compact to my Mvix player which can be linked to the tv with RCA, DVI, HDMI or composite cables...your choice.
Mvix case 149,000
1TB drives (Samsung: 169,000ea)
Hardbox 2xHDD case: 89,000
500GB drive: 89,000
It's a lot of media but the TV takes the most room. Maybe went overboard but I have no cable at home, only what I download. |

I have one of these. It has 2 USB ins, HDMI, optical, svideo. Plays all my HD Blue Ray Rips, ISOs, and everything else including my favorite DTS Wave files. I hsve it newtworked to the PC.
Before this I had my old laptop S-video'd to the tv. But the new box is much better for HD audio. |
