I am gone contact the Canadian cosulate/embasy. I just would like to know what I should expect. I got the forms off the Canadian passport page I need some pictures and money. How much time will it take to finish the procedure and what exactly do I need. This is Korea after all, so who knows if Klogic effects the Canadian Embassy. |

I just did it a few months back, and I think the price came to $50 or so. I didn't have anybody to notarise it, so I had to pay a bit more, but it wasn't a horrible amount. Over all a simple enough process, just fill out the forms and wait a couple weeks. |

I did it last week. It was 178 000 won for a 48 page passport. You will need the information of two extra references for the form at the embassy and the addresses of the places where you lived over the past five years.
It took about 10 minutes once I was there. There is a place to get the photos done close to the embassy. 18 000 won for the photos.
You need two valid pieces of ID as well. |

I just did it as well, and it arrived within three weeks.
I only prepared two references, and didn't know that I needed two additional ones without a guarantor to verify my info and pictures, so be sure to have contact details for four people.
But if you don't have the info on hand, they'll let you email it from home so you don't have to come all the way back. |

You only need two references with a guarantor right. |

Correct, but without a guarantor you can just pay some money to get over the hassle, rather than having to go find a doctor or whoever.
Also, remember that valid ID can include your old passport, even if it's expired (within a year I think). |

I thought I'd read a report in canada last year that the need for a guarantor was dropped. |

I am assuming most of you went to Seoul for this?
Unless some of you mailed it there?
I am just thinking of going there.
I do have photo ID but I lost my wallet 3 months ago so I lost couple pieces of Canadian ID. I did report it.
I do have a Korean licence and ARC as well as Firearms Licence (is that enough?) |

As of November 2008, it was still asked, although you could pay money to skip it altogether. |

I have to go this month, but got a doctor to sign my picture and the fill out the section of the form.. saves me 50,000. Passports are expensive enough as it is. :S |

Any further updates on the renewal process? Has anyone done it recently?
I also heard that the guarantor requirement was dropped back in Canada but when I contacted the embassy in Seoul it was still being asked for. Also I was told by the embassy that the requirement of 2 personal references was dropped(but you still need them for the "in lieu of guarantor" form). |

How much is it now WITH and WITHOUT a guarantor for a normal paged passport, 24 pages I believe.
As mentioned above, 48pages is 178,000 won Holy $hit!!
Man, what a rip off!
korean passports last 10 years and are half the price! |

24 pages, with guarantor: 115,000 won or $100 cdn.
Without guarantor: 172,500 won or $155.
48 pages, add 5750 won or $5. |
