i'm in the market for a turntable. i'm not going to be djing or anything, just want to listen to some vinyl. so i don't need anything professional, though i would be willing to spend the money for a nice one.

Have you brought over a collection? I wouldn't think there's any to buy in Korea... or is there? |

I know of one place in Seoul that has a pretty extensive selection of turntables. I cannont, however, comment on the prices. I have just looked at them; not inquired on the cost.
Go to Yongsan electronics market. You need to go the 전자란드 (Jeon-ja Land) building located on the opposite side of the tracks from the station building. It's either the third or fourth floor. Take a bit of time to browse. Good luck.
As for buying vinyl. There are a number of shops in the same building. Also, many of the underground markets in central seoul have used record shops. |

there are a few street markets where one can buy some korea records (the stuff from the 70's and 80's is great by the way!) and bootlegged western stuff. |

Wait...now that I think about it, it may be the ET Land building that the turntable shops are in. The buildings are next to each other. If you don't find it in one, then go to the other. Sorry about the vagueness. Good luck. |

i've been buying vinyl in korea for the last three years... lots to choose from, blues, jazz, soul, rock, you name it... the big names will cost more... i personally like to find the more random things that you're inclined to find in the 1000-2000w bins.
not sure where you would buy turntables at a reasonable price... might be better off getting something used off of ebay.
pm me if you want more details on where to get vinyl... hard to explain but i'd be more than willing to meet you at the nearest subway stop and walk you there.

I've been looking at turntables myself at eBay for the past few months. I too think that I want to return to a set-up to play vinyl. My first good TT was an old AR ES-1, and it was a great basic platter. LOL, they go for a lot more now than what I paid decades ago.
Good luck in your quest. |

How much are you prepared to pay? I may be willing to offload one of my turntables depending on your budget. |

Hmm...not quite sure how to interpret this post. Is it a good thing that you fall off your chair?
I had a look at the auction site you provided the link for and the turntables there would be a far better purchase than mine if they are purely for home listening. There is no way I would sell mine for a price as low as people are asking on that site.
As for the vinyl in Seoul topic...there is a good selection of second hand records in the underground market in Myeongdong. |

i checked out 전자란드. the selection and condition of the turntables are excellent. only thing is that it seems like more of a boutique shop with an audiophile customer base. the average turntable was around 500,000 won and the price of the stereo receivers and amps were around the same price. like nagwon, there were a lot of vendors with similar products, but without competitive prices.
so, i am still looking for a turntable.
re:cursive, i am looking to spend about 100,000 won if you are still interested in selling your player. |
