Does anyone work in a public high school that does not have a classroom designated for English per se?

My high school will have me going to each student's class to teach my lessons. The school has not had a native teacher in the past two years.

Teacher rotation is much more common than dedicated classrooms.

If your high school is anything like my middle school, the W2,500,000 'thirty-square-meter', plasma monitors in each classroom will be hooked up to a clapped-out, virus infected, 256K Samsung version of an early '80s Atari. Rolling Eyes Wink

Three things: 'presence', paper and chalk... 'low tech'... but they always work. Wink

My school has a new english classroom but it won't be ready for another few weeks, so I've been doing it 'old school' and using handouts and the chalkboard like every other teacher in the school. Definitely not as fun and interactive as powerpoint, but the lessons are just as good.

lessons about technology....
if you are going to use them, check to make sure everything works before the class.

and remember, chalk and board NEVER crash.

I did prepare quite a few lessons that would grab their attention and teach...The manager of the department is going to find a class for me this week dedicated to English teaching.....

Yes to checking out the equipment so I don't fall flat on my face relying on the PP or computer to work and there goes what I planned for that day...Always have a Plan B.

Thanks, all.
