I have a fairly high level 6th grade student who loves to read. She loves fantasy type novels, and I would like to suggest some books for her. The problem is she has read a lot of my suggestions already. She has read:
The Golden Compass series
All the Roald Dhal books
All the Harry Potter books
The Chronicles of Narnia Series
The Wrinkle in Time Series
If anyone knows of more good books, of similar level and in this genre, please let me know. Thanks. |

Fairly high indeed! Out of my 70-ish 6th graders, there are maybe 10 or 15 that can answer "how are you?" and 2 that can answer "what did you do yesterday?"

Night Shift - Stephen King
The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien
Dark Tower Series - Stephen King
Artemis Fowl - Eoin Colfer
Not really fantasy but still good:
Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle
Call of the Wild
Where the Red Fern Grows
Old Yeller |
