I looked at a thread that had been resurrected from from last year about soccer and Ji-Sung Park and one of the comments reminded me of something that was complete and utter shyLe from 2008. Time's Most Influential People of 2008 had two different polls. One was simply open to the public and here were the top 3:

American TV personality widely popular for his snarky news reporter role on "The Daily Show" and then later his own TV show, the "Colbert Report." Making world recognition after landing insult after insult in President Bush's 2006 annual dinner. |
With as many video games as this world plays, you can't help but think of Nintendo. For those that would have done any research, Shigeru Miyamoto would have been a tope guy in there.
How many of us watch the Daily show, or did before moving to Korea? something that people make an effort to watch every night and sometimes if we're really bored some of the reruns in the day. Or if you simply liked his attack on the president, that's an influence.
BUT RAIN!!! WTF WTF WTF
When I came to Korea I didn't know Rain. I still am not sure which song he is famous for. The Koreans I talked with didn't like "I'm a Cyborg, but that's OK" in which he was the lead male role to (the ending of the movie sort of sucked). Basically he is popular in Korea, because he's popular, but only in Korea...
This leads me to the ballot stuffing idea. How far would Korea as a nation go to get recognition from the world? |
