| I'm going to paint the trim and caulk the rattling windows in my apartment. Is there a Home Depot-type store near Hongdae where I can pick up caulk, caulking gun, brushes, putty, etc.? Am I better off just going to one of my little neighborhood places and dealing with limited selection and high prices? I'm gonna start tomorrow so I don't have time to wait for gmarket. Thanks! |

I don't think prices on that stuff are going to be much cheaper than the corner store anywhere you go. From what I've seen in time here, there are a certain limited number of Korean brand paints available -- like KCC and Samwha Homestar. See www.paintclub.co.kr (just found that on the side of a paint can here).
You can go to Bangsan market http://bangsansijang.nutec.co.kr/home/home/best/doc.php?doc=5 and find several shops selling paint, wallpaper, moulding, doorhandes, tools, and stuff outside of the subway exit. Those shops all along that area sell all kinds of crap like you'd find at a Home Depot. It's actually a really fun area for a guy to tool-around in. I love it. I think you wanna exit out exit 6 on the green line for what you're looking for. |
