I hope it's not a sign of things to come in the Year of the Monkey, but it's durn cold out there tonight. Anyway, my turkey gumbo is bubbling on the stove and I thought I'd share a quote from Woody Allen's "Manhattan" (1979) while I'm waiting.

"There are certain things that make life worthwhile. Like what? OK...umm, for me, uh...I would say Groucho Marx to name one thing; Willy Mays; the second movement of the Jupiter Symphony, Lewis Armstrong's recording of 'Potato Head Blues'; Swedish movies, naturally, 'Sentimental Education by Flaubert; Marlon Brando; Frank Sinatra; those incredible apples and pears by Cezanne; the crabs at Sam Woo's (sp?)..."

I just thought that was a nice way to start off the Lunar New Year.

Happy Lunar New Year, everyone! Very Happy

Why? Because... dogs wag their tails, music moves the feet, sunshine comes with clouds, children love to play, water goes down great, today's another day, and tomorrow'll take care of itself.

Happy new year! A new day has come.

It (the cold weather) is not a sign of things to come, or life is not worth living? Confused

While you guys were thinking "Damn, it's cold!" I found myself thinking what a beautiful sunny day it was. Of course I've tried to stay indoors today as much as possible. Very Happy

Things that make life worth living?

It doesn't seem to snow much here in Daegu. We got a ten minute flurry Monday morning while I was teaching a camp class. The children couldn't take their eyes off the windows, so I took them all out into the sparse white flakes. They ran around catching them on their tongues and hair, with absolute pure and innocent glee.

Happy New Year!
