I was canned- wrongfully. I went to the labour board and will be contacted within 2 weeks. I assume that will explain things in more (but maybe not complete) detail.

Has anyone had to go to the labour board? If so, what happened? Do I need to take a bilingual person with me, or do they have someone there? HOw long does this take-i.e. to get what I am asking for. Also, how about immigration? I have been fired and will have to leave soon- is enough time given to see the end of this? What about looking for another job (for when it's done). Is the release letter guaranteed if it's ruled that I was unjustly fired?

If you're fired, immi gives you 2 weeks to get out. If you've got a case with the labour board they might extend this, but don't count on it.

As for a letter of release, it's apparently no longer needed. Either go to immi, tell them you've been fired and get an exit order (which will cancel your visa), or hand your ARC card in while on your way out at the airport and tell them to cancel it.

If I were you'd I'd prioritize getting a new job first, then talk to the labour boys about your previous job. That way there's no 2-week time limit.
