Hey all,
I was asked yesterday by my coteach to plan a field trip for my advanced class this year (approx. 20 students, elementary school). I have to give her an idea tomorrow. Fabulous.
Last year she planned it and we did "Poetry in the Park" . . . which . . . sucked. We have a decent budget, and I'd like to do something cool and educational. Everland does not appeal to me in the slightest.
For what its worth, we're in Suwon, so almost anything in the Seoul metro area, Gyeonggi-do, or even a little further would be okay . . . We would be doing in it May or June, so something outside is fine.
Give me some ideas!
Peace,

This year, we're going to Hwaseong Fortress. Students are going to have to take lots of pictures and design a power point presentation. We've got lots of books that the Gyeonggi (or Suwon?) government sent out last year on Hwaseong, with information in both English and Korean to help the students.
That's our plan for May. Last year we used those books for a big lesson to the entire fifth grade class, followed by a grade-wide competition. Our school is going to become expert in Hwaseong
Other suggestions:
Korean Folk Village in Yongin
Bird Sanctuary in Ansan
King's Palace in Seoul
Art museum
Hiking in the mountains (can talk about environmental issues)
Einsworld (spelling?) ... not really educational but entertaining
Major Corporation/Power Plant/Waste Treatment Facility tour |

See a play (there's a fun one about dog poop which will keep you riveted... in horror... but the kids will love it.)
There's a cool group that combines hip-hop dance, classical music, and korean instruments... I can't remember their name, but it looked really awesome.
See a musical (Cats, or something)
War Memorial (yongsan)
Seoul tower.
Namhansansang.
Lotte World.
Han River Tour.
Childrens Grand Park.
Seoul Forest.
Olympic Park. |

seoul forest??
have you even been to the alleged "seoul forest???"
it's a bunch of saplings planted like, uh, a couple of years ago. not a forest, not even a decent park.
and why would anyone want to tour the Han?? there's absolutely nothing to see. got to be one of the most boring rivers in the world. |
