| Japanese or Chinese. There are plenty of cute Chinese graduate students where I live. All the Korean women I come across are married. |

I guess I prefer Korean since I came to Korea, but I would like to go take a look around in Japan. I understand it's only 40 miles from Busan, but it's not cheap to go.
I'd say when it comes to women, each country has members that are highly preferable so I could go with any country's individual. Why am I thinking about Asian women at 9:53 AM in the office? There's a gorgeous thing in a sheer and I mean sheer blouse sitting near me, but no English. The pretty women dress so sexy around here, but they're late 20's, married up, and have small children. These are teachers and bank tellers. |

how is this racist? Korea is asian country and your living in an asian country? and a lot of people here went to a lot of asian countries.
i don't think any european countries are dumb enough to pay english teachers 2.5 million you know |

My favorite race is the human race - there is only one race on this planet.
The more appropriate word to use is ethnicity. Sorry, sociology/anthropology background.
But I suppose it all depends on how intelligent they are. Have seen some beautiful women all over the world but as soon as they open up their mouths, I become disappointed.
But I must admit that general appearance and looks, East Asian females are quite more appealing to me. |

Your title clearly says pick your favorite asian.
Asian in the strict term alone means the people that occupy Asia.
Like you say American for people who live in America. People don't say: what is your favorite American. That doesn't mean, south America, north America, or Canda, it means the people within.
So asking people what their favorite Asian is, means what is your favorite ethnic group within Asia.
I find it racist. But giving you the benefit of the doubt maybe you meant something else. If you did. A mistake - you should be clearer. If intended then... well racist statement. |

This is idiotic. Although it could have been worded better, this is by no means racist. All it means is which Asian ethnicity appeals to you the most or which do you find the most preferable. It in no way, shape or form states which ethnicity is better or worse.
For example, if I say that I find Mongolians to be my favourite Asian ethnic group it doesn't mean that Koreans or Filipinos are inferior or defective in character. It just means that I enjoy the company of Mongolians more or I am more comfortable being around them. It's just personal preference.
Some people are too quick to drop the "R" bomb... |

Granted you have a point there and I realized it after I posted. It's true that showing preference for a country doesn't indicate racism... however,
The Op mentioned the people of a particular country and preference there is an underlying assumption of superiority of one human to another.
If the op wanted, he could have posted: "Which Asian culture do you prefer". But saying which Asian do you prefer directly is reflective of the people, not their culture. Sure the people econmpass their culture but that isn't a direct statement nor is it a direct corelation as we all know people differ. Saying "Asians" would include assumptions about their skin color, apperance, and other aspects that make them people. Whereas culture is an abstract topic focused on aggregate personality and preferences. Saying "Asians" therefore starts to become value judgements about people you prefer, not necessarily based on culture, but on other factors... Therefore bordering on racist thoughts. For example, I could say I like Japanese culture because there is a system of formality. Whereas, talking about "Asians" I could say I prefer Japanese because they have crooked teeth. Talking about "Asians" opens doors for racist talk.
Maybe the OPs intentions were of the nature you stated Guri Guy, but his wording is poor either out of carelessness, stupidty, or ill intentions. I'm not sure what his intentions were... Maybe they were pure and out of pure... I can't assume anything.
Regardless, the wording is the only thing I have to base on his intentions, And right now "All Signs point to yes" |
