I was making this site a while ago when I had alot of free time. Because I had to look for a new job and I hated scrolling through pages and pages....and more pages of random jobs. But then kind of gave up because I got bored. Anyway basically its a job site with a database backend that has alot of searching, sorting, filtering capabilities. The idea was to plug in criteria you wanted(every can afford to be picky with so many bad jobs) and bam just get the jobs that are right for you.
Anyway it's not finished at the moment. Basically looking for some constructive criticism and if it's worth finishing.
The url is koreanjobsdirect.com |

(1) there were a few spelling/grammatical errors - better proofing is in order
(2) how about a "No recruiters allowed" policy? of course you'd need someone bilingual to translate for the schools that want an E teacher but don't speak E (!) - which is primarily why recruiters even exist - if someone can bypass that obstacle they'd be well on the way to benefitting everyone because it's my understanding recruiters are not exactly held in high esteem by schools any more than they are potential employees. |

yeah spelling and grammar is always an issue. I always type faster than I think heh.
As for the korean content. I was just gonna get my wife to translate that. I would think that most hagwons/schools etc would have someone with decent enough english to post. |

I think its a good idea. One thing you will have to think of is what comes first 'the chicken or the egg.'
By this I mean it is pointless getting loads of schools ect to post positions if no teachers look at it. On the flip side if no school post jobs foreigners will only look once and that will be it.
If you want to make your site a success you need to think about how you market it once you have ironed out the mistakes.
You will have to market it to both parties otherwise it will not work.
The foreigners side should be easy. If you have any friends in your own country email them a flier and get them to distribute them across college campuses ect.
Leaflets in foreign hotspots in Korea like Iteawon - What the book ect ect ect.
Your site should contain everything a person needs to know about a VISA application, getting to Korea ect ect.
The harder part of your project is to get schools to use your website.
I'm not sure how PS schools work but with them being under EPIK,GEPIK ect ect Im sure they just use a select few recruiters.
To beat this you need a great, fully working site to show them. Free postings for a year/forever? ? ? ect ect.
As for Hogs another post a load of fliers off to them - get their addresses from Yellow pages ect. If you have a small Korean section in your website with key words that will help them navigate the site this will help you out 1000%
Assume the person posting the job cannot speak or read any English. Maybe they got someone else to write the Job opening and they are just posting it. |

Marketing and that aside. The idea was not to run it for profit. Because basically the cut throat business of recruiting is not something I really want to get involved with. The idea behind it was to create something autonomous. I just made it, with the plan of making a site that I could use myself to look for work. I remember when I looked for my current job, it was just scrolling through pages, and pages or jobs that didn't match my criteria. I wanted to find a job near my home. However every job title is like "2.3M in seoul HOT HOT" and the search capabilities of the sites are little to none.
What I want to know is if other people have the same mindset as me. Or if they are quite content to use the existing services. Im not going to bother if people don't care. |

The site is a great concept. Don't give up. I would use the site if there were decent jobs listed. Part time jobs for F visa holders always helps too. |
