If I were to break my contract, leave Korea, and turn in my weigookin card, am I able to get different job/visa even if the visa isn't expired? If anyone has any ideas let me know please. |

You need to get your current visa cancelled. If you work at a hagwon, your boss will likely HATE doing that, and will be deeply offended and insulted that you wish to leave his fine upstanding business and go work for someone else. |

Actually I work for a school that hires only one foreign teacher...I'm guessing they would automatically cancel it so they could get another English teacher there.
So all that needs concern is whether they cancel the visa or not?? |

They don't have to cancel your visa to give out a new one to the next teacher. If you're the only FT there the boss will be especially reluctant to let you go unless they wanted to fire you anyways. This is a hagwon and not a public school, right? |

No problem, but you will need a letter of release from your present employer. |

it's a public school. Are you sure that I need a letter of release? Or is that just preferred? |

Just go to immigration and tell them you want a 30 day exit order. No need for a letter of release or anything. That will cancel your visa. When you get to the airport hand in your ARC at immigration and just tell them you want it cancelled. |

If you're with EPIK, GEPIK, or a private school getting a LOR shouldn't be a problem. If you're with SMOE it could be a huge problem.
Why is it that you want out? Is it your school specifically or do you want to try working at a hagwon or uni instead? |
