|
|
Since the weather has gotten nicer, I've been itching to get some fishing in. I'm looking to go fishing on the weekend somewhere near Seoul (within a 2 hour commute) or maybe on the Han??? Or at a different river or on a lake?
I'd be down to even spend a night somewhere.....I'd also need to rent poles and equipment....And I'd rather not do any deep sea fishing, quite yet, but any info on that would still be welcome.
Where can I catch some dinner?!?! I'm poor and sick of eating ramen...hahaha. |

The only thing you will catch in the Han around Seoul is a turd! I launched a large one out a few days ago, I had to flush twice so if you hurry you might just catch it!
The rivers in and around the mountains are very very low at the minute, so your best opting for lake fishing.
I'm not sure where you would be able to hire rods from though. Koreans don't understand the notion of throwing back fish either so everywhere is totally over fished. |

eh, I thought catch and release was all Koreans did?
There are heaps of fishing ponds around. The're stocked with carp, bass etc and you hire the chair for a day. Good fun, but I don't think you can eat the fish. I'm pretty sure you could hire some gear if you asked.
I think the hydro dams have wild fish. They might be alright to eat. I guess the easiest way would be join an organised tour.
Isn't there a fishing guide on this board? I guess he might come on here shortly |

I was by the river once where people were fishing, and saw one guy catch a huge fish. They do practice catch-and-release, not least of all because the fish are all probably toxic or something. If you want to go on a daytrip, I've heard good things about fishing at Singal Lake near Suwon. |

Catch and release is a foreign concept to the fishermen in my area. Saying that the water here is crystal clean! (for the most part).
I have seen those human made 'ponds' on my way home from Seoul. Yeah it is fishing but.........
I would rather sit along a nice lake, in the sun with a BBQ and a cold beer.
Ahhhhhh whilst I was typing this I have just thought. Just out of Chuncheon (the capital of Gangwondo) - which is just over 2 hrs from Seoul. they rent out floating homes on a lake. I was speaking to my co teacher the other day about them and he thinks they are 40,000 ish to rent for the day.
You could deffo easily get 3-4 of you + frinds on one. I assume they even have a TV because they all have dishes on the side.
A guy takes you out on a boat and picks you up when you want to come back.
Like I said wheather you catch anything????? But the scenary is awsome! |

Danyang is a great place, but that's probably more than two hours from Seoul. You'd be fishing in the South Han River, and the water is very clean.
The sea fishing is great here in Gangneung. I go cast off the break water during my lunch break. |

From Dong Seoul its 2 1/2 hours to Chuncheon +/- 5 mins.
From what I remember the Buses are quite frequent, at least every hour (except for a two hour gap in the middle of the day).
I will try and get the guys number who does the house boat things. I'm sure one of the people from work has used him before.
It will have to wait until Monday now though - Its the weekend (in 5 mins) |

Well,...as long as there're some refreshments nearby!
Do you know what you're after at all? Spoken with any local fish mongers? Favored lures in the area?...tried any cut bait? |

Nice one people. This is a great help to me and my friends.
I'm more keen to catch and release, but if it's big enough I'd be down to try and get a nearby seafood restauant to cook it up for us!! Or give it away to a fellow fisherman who may be nearby!
Again, Thanks! |

Thanks for all the great info! Sorry to post on here again, I've tried to do a search on Dave's, but I'm somewhat inept at doing that. Also, I'm more interested in doing that floating lake house thing!
Gazz, any more word on that? Do you know if you can sleep on the boats? or BBQ on the boats, AND can rent poles and such? It sounds like it'd be a really wonderful all day activity!
Please if you've got any other info regarding this mystical boat houses....let me know!!!!
Thanks again! |
