I am not talking about which country is better or worse. I am more interested in the similarities.

Does Seoul resemble Tokyo in anyway? What about life in general?

I am from Vancouver and I often travelled to Seattle and the two cities are pretty much the same. Is that how Seoul and Tokyo are?

Not at all in my opinion.
They're just both in Asia.

Seoul`s transportation infrastructure is pretty good but Tokyo`s is on another level. All kinds of trains - subway, commuter, shinkansen and so many lines. Way more than Seoul. Tokyo`s subway is even more massive and confusing than Seoul`s on the map. Both are concrete jungles but Tokyo manages to put more green space into the CBD area. You can have lunch and then take a stroll in a park. Both do have satellite cities that feed commuters in and out at peak times.

Seoul has its charms I'll admit.

It also has spittle all over the place though as well as cigarette butts everywhere. Japanese people on the other hand are quite fastidious about cleanliness.

Really? When I lived in Osaka I saw a level of litter comparable to America, and the farmers near my in-laws' house chuck their empty soda and energy-drink bottles all over the place. Tokyo may have been a little cleaner but I didn't look closely.

I think Osaka's kind of a mix of Tokyo and Seoul.

Dirty (but still less littered than Seoul...except for around 4-5 AM on a Sunday morning), drunk, and rude like Seoul.

Fun and funky like Tokyo.

I won't say there's much similarity between Tokyo and Seoul, but there are quite a few similarities between Korea and Japan.

You mean the ddongchim isn't only a Korean thing?!?!

In other words, it's pretty clean? I'm not a proud American by any means, but I think Americans litter very little; less than most other nationalities I've seen (with the exception of the Scandinavians, Germans, and Dutch).

Add in the MUCH larger variety of restaurants and international food in Japan. Korea simply doesn't come close to the variety Japan offers.

I have to call BS on this - I've photographed all over Osaka, Kyoto and Fukuoka, including side streets - did not ever see anything like you describe - even wrote at length as to my opinion as to why the Japanese seemed so obsessed w/cleanliness and fear of littering which was forwarded to a Buddist society.
